Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse has announced her decision to quit Twitter after being targeted by trolls.

Motsi, 39, was accused of being under the influence after Strictly viewers noticed a small fumble over her scoring paddle as she was rating Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez’s performance on Saturday 7 December.

One asked: “Is Motsi drunk?” As another said: “She’s been slurring her words and dropping paddles.”

While other viewers suggested Motsi intended to give the dancing couple a higher score as one said: “Hands up if you thought Motsi was gonna give a 10?”

Motsi originally responded to the speculation as she is reported to have said: “It got stuck” before deleting her account.

The judge, who recently had to fly home to Germany after her dance school was broken into, then shared her decision to leave the social media platform.

Motsi wrote: “I’ve decided to leave Twitter!! It’s been fun but I truly think with Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.. it’s enough social media.

“Please keep up my #strictlykindess hashtag!! You know where to find me.”

It comes after the star was replaced by Anton Du Beke on Strictly, after she was forced to quarantine for two weeks after travelling to Germany.

Fans later called for the professional dancer, 54, to become a permanent judge, reportedly leaving Bruno Tonioli “worried” over his judging future.

One wrote: “we really need @antondubeke as a judge. His stint as judge learnt a lot from on the different moves which none of the current judges allude to!He is so much like Len Goodman! Do we need a petition?” [sic]

Another said: “I want Anton du Beke to a official judge on strictly next year ….”

As a third wrote: “Anton Du Beke should be a full time judge on @bbcstrictly Its like having Len back! No disrespect to Motsi as I really like her but I was disappointed Anton wasn't on the panel today.”

A source later told The Sun On Sunday how Bruno, who is currently unable to judge the show following travel restrictions, feels insecure about his future.

They said: “Bruno feels a bit out of the loop with the UK show and even though he hasn’t been able to film it this year, it’s really important to him.

“He has told pals he is worried about viewers preferring Anton and forgetting about him.”

And Anton said he feels too old to compete as a professional dancer on the show.

He said: “As as I’ve gotten older I don’t compete anymore I don’t like to compete now, funnily enough.

“I’ve been down that road and I’m past that. But I still want to be fabulous, so I’m really competitive with myself.

“But I have this anxiety now I never used to have, maybe it’s because I’ve had children.

“I really hate, more than anything else and it makes me ill, if I’ve upset somebody.”
