Stephanie Beatriz’s wedding was large but easy: ‘friends called me bridechilla’

Aaaaw – Rosa Diaz got hitched! Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Stephanie Beatriz married Brad Hoss over the weekend in a wedding that was as much a testament to the couple’s love of LA as each other. And even though they planned the entire celebration themselves, Stephanie was completely relaxed about it, due to the “awesome human” she was marrying.

Stephanie Beatriz is officially a married woman!

On Saturday, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress tied the knot with her partner Brad Hoss in an intimate wedding while surrounded by friends and family — and her costars!
The newly married couple said “I do” in front almost 300 guests at a celebration the two planned the whole wedding themselves.

“We decided that we wanted it to really reflect us. So for us that meant being involved every step of the way, meaning that we didn’t hire a wedding planner,” Beatriz, 37, told PEOPLE just days before the nuptials. “We did it ourselves, which is a pretty big undertaking when you consider there’s gonna be close to 300 people there.”

“My friends are all calling me ‘bridechilla,’ ” she joked. “They’re like, ‘Why aren’t you stressed out?’ and I’m like, ‘Cause I’m marrying an awesome human.’”

Small note to People: not sure I would call a 300 person wedding ‘intimate’. Personal, sure but not intimate. I understand Stephanie’s point about the actual ‘getting married’ part allowing her to chill out. Everyone wants an incredible wedding day but my philosophy was if I end up married to The Mister by the end of mine, then the day was a success, regardless if the cake ended up on the floor. It really helped me enjoy the whole thing a lot more – although mine was nowhere near as large as theirs.

Unfortunately, I only found one photo I can post below *sad face* but there are some lovely pics in this People article. Stephanie wore a Grace Love Lace simple slip dress with large rose print lace. She paired it with a church-length veil decorated with the same rose appliqués as her gown. She left her her down in soft waves and the whole look was so romantic. Plus, the dress has its own lovely story in that it’s named ‘Rosa,’ the bride’s B99 character’s name. For Stephanie, it wasn’t just coincidental, it was symbolic as she credits the show and her co-stars, almost all of whom attended the wedding, with helping to “mold me into the person that I am and the partner that I think I can be for Brad.” *dabs eyes*

As for the wedding’s theme of celebrating Los Angeles, it sounds incredible. The entrance to the venue was a smaller recreation of the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel. Guests were “checked in” and given a little key and keychain. All of the flowers and greenery were local and in season. They brought in local food trucks, including Roy Choi, a trailblazer in the gourmet food truck craze. Instead of wedding cake, the Coolhaus truck provided ice cream sandwiches. Coolhaus is also, “a queer and female-owned business.” Stephanie, as most of us know, is “proud as hell” to be bisexual and wrote an amazing essay for GQ about identifying as queer.

It looked like a magical day and I couldn’t be happier that the couple were able to enjoy every bit of it. I’m also thrilled Stephanie was able to share it with her B99 co-stars and support network.
