The BritishBakeOff Twitter page posted a GIF of the three finalists with the caption: “In case you missed the news, here are Chigs, Crystelle and Giuseppe with a subtle hint about what lies ahead of this evening on Channel 4! #GBBOFinal.”

In response, Rachel sent a tweet in view of her 691,000 Twitter followers.

She penned: “I saw 1 of these 3 in Television Centre on Sunday, think that tells me who’s won…!

“I know to stay off Twitter to avoid spoilers but should have kept my eyes closed round the Sunday Brunch corridors too.

“Still can’t wait to watch, they’d all be worthy champs!”

Fans of the show took the comments to share their delight at Rachel’s hidden “spoiler” before tonight’s show.

Jonathan_deakin said: “You are such a tease!

“But you are doing the right thing, thank you!”

StevebristolUK added: “Is it the guy on the right?”

AliCat3635 commented: “I think they are all brilliant.”

This year’s Bake Off final is the closest in the show’s history with all three finalists having achieved two Star Baker awards and even two handshakes from Paul Hollywood.

Last week saw three-time Star Baker Jurgen eliminated, leaving many fans devastated at the shock departure.

Speaking on the show at the time, Jurgen said: “I feel kind of OK… I kind of saw it coming.

“I think the others are more shocked than I am.

“It has been incredible and I have really enjoyed being here. I have made friends for life, and I will be with them in spirit.”

Chigs, one of the contestants in the final, only began baking regularly during the first lockdown in 2020.

Speaking to the Mirror about the final he said: “I was up against two incredibly talented bakers – the fact that I was the least experienced baker played on my mind a lot during this time.

“I just had to have a word with myself.”

The Great British Bake Off final airs tonight on Channel 4 at 8pm
