Richard put his ripped physique on display as he slipped into a pair of black swimming trunks.

The actor – who is one of the rumoured frontrunners for the next James Bond – looked like he’d stepped straight out of one of the 007 movies as he showcased his musclebound figure.

Yet the actor will have a long wait to hear of any news following Daniel Craig’s departure, after producer Barbara Broccoli told fans that the newest instalment is ‘two years away’ and that they are in no rush to recast the iconic spy figure.

Richard’s last role was in 2021’s Marvel film, Eternals, and he will next be seen on screens in TV spy series Citadel – although little is known about the upcoming project.

Rumours surrounding the Scottish actor’s future come as he was honoured with the Giffoni Experience Award.

The children’s film festival has taken place every June since 1971. Over 2,000 children attend from all over the world to learn filmmaking skills and judge each others works.

Accepting his award, he told the young attendees: ‘I’m sure that, in the future, I will work with someone who is here in this hall’.

‘Working here has been one of the best experiences of my career. And I don’t say it just because food is good, or rather, too good, but also because tricolour productions are the most prone to improvisation and the most adept at solving problems’.

He continued: ‘ If you consider, instead, the American ones, the tone is totally different: everything is classified, meticulous, with countless tests to obtain perfection, but I much prefer the Italian method because it represents me best’.

‘On the subject of social inequalities, this Festival is in the right track, because it brings together, in the same place, people from far and wide… here the social class makes no difference’.

Award: Later in the day, Richard was honoured with the Giffoni Experience Award. The children’s film festival has taken place every June since 1971
