Sharon Osbourne has waded into the furore surrounded Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step back as senior royals.

While she acknowledged they should be allowed to live the sort of life they want to, she said they should have waited until the Queen retires before stepping down.

She said on The Talk on Thursday: ‘They should be able to do what they want. It’s 2020. However, his family are royal, for thousands of years.

‘And to respect that family, you go to your family; you tell them how you feel; you say, let’s sort this out.’

She continued: ‘The Queen has said that within the next 18 months she’s going to retire, which means that Harry‘s dad, Prince Charles will be King. So, you know what, you wait until the Queen’s retired,’ Sharon continued.

Announcement: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released this statement on Wednesday

A statement released in December read: ‘There are no plans for any change in arrangements at the age of 95 — or any other age.’

Sharon also said that if Harry, 35, alienates his family, Archie, eight months, will be the one who suffers.

She said: ‘And remember one thing, Meghan, 38, has chosen to go through life without her family, just her mum.

‘Now, if you alienate your royal family, your child will grow up with just you and one grandma. And that is not a good idea for anyone.

‘My prediction is, that she’ll [Markle] end up doing something with Oprah and Michelle Obama.’

Her words came as Oprah Winfrey denied reports that she had helped advise Meghan and Harry on leaving their posts.

65-year-old Winfrey was reportedly the first person Harry and Meghan spoke to about their departure, according to Page Six, but she says that’s not true.

Winfrey famously attended the couple’s wedding in May 2018, but she made it clear that they don’t need her help.

A source in the original report claimed, ‘Oprah was the first person to talk to Harry and Meghan about breaking free and doing their own thing, building on their own brand. She made them realize it was really possible.’

But Winfrey said, ‘Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them,’ in a statement to People.

‘I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family,’ Winfrey added.

Page Six’s source also claimed that Oprah’s good friend Gayle King has secured the first interview with the couple following what’s become known as the ‘Megxit.’

‘It’s hush-hush, but there’s no one else they would turn to,’ the source said, though it’s not confirmed that the CBS This Morning host will conduct the interview.

It was confirmed in September that Prince Harry had teamed with Oprah on a new Apple TV Plus streaming service series focusing on mental health.

The report also claimed that other famous friends of the couple like George Clooney and the Obamas, but those claims are unconfirmed as well.

Harry and Meghan made the blockbuster announcement on Wednesday, stating their plans to split their time between the U.K. and North America.

‘After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,’ they began in their statement.

Step back: ‘We intend to step back as “senior” members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,’ they added
