Scooter Braun is directly calling out Taylor Swift after saying her fans began threatening the lives of his wife and children.
Braun, 38, first broke his silence in his ongoing feud with the 29-year-old pop star on Thursday, calling the root of their issues a result of “miscommunication.” He also said he wouldn’t engage in a social media war with the “Lover” songstress. But now, after saying he’s received death threats from Swifties, Braun turned to Instagram to plead with her to call off her fans and talk with him to find a solution to their music war.
“Since your public statement last week there have been numerous death threats directed at my family,” Braun began the lengthy letter. “This morning I spoke out publicly for the first time saying I wouldn’t participate in a social media war. However I came home tonight to find my wife had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children as well as other threats seen above.”
Swift and Braun have been feuding since his company bought her former label Big Machine Label Group, and in turn the rights to much of her old music, earlier this year.
“…Thinking of my wife and children, my team and their families, I have gone through a range of emotions on how to deal with this,” Braun continued. “I write this now only after a deep breathe [sic] and much reflection. I am certain there is no situation ever worth jeopardizing anyone’s safety.”
Braun referenced the end of Swift’s public letter, in which she called for her fans to “let [Big Machine Records honcho] Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this,” and asked her to understand that her words “carry a tremendous amount of weight.” He also claimed Swift had been ignoring the threats made against him and his Big Machine Nashville offices despite her attorney informing her of them.
The manager to the stars, who represents A-list clients such as Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, said he was “shocked and disheartened” that “The Archer” singer would find his involvement in Big Machine something that causes “so much pain.”
Although her “team and many of our mutual friends” have attempted to get Swift to communicate with Braun directly, he claimed they’ve all failed.
“It almost feels as if you have no interest in ever resolving the conflict,” Braun wrote. “At this point with safety becoming a concern I have no choice other than to publicly ask us to come together and try to find a resolution.”
“Frustrated” by Swift’s “accusations,” Braun reaffirmed she can perform whatever she likes at the American Music Awards this weekend and said she never needed permission to do so.
Braun closed out his letter with a screenshot from an Internet troll allegedly threatening his family.
“Hi, why dont you just die withyour [sic] children???” the troll messaged Braun. “I will buy a gun tmr and them shoot you allin [sic] the head.”
Swift hasn’t publicly responded to Braun’s plea.
