Scarlett Moffatt broke her silence on Wednesday after coming under fire for ‘taking advantage’ of an independent boutique.
The television personality was accused of ‘ghosting’ after begging an online start-up for a bespoke £150 skirt and then failing to deliver pre-agreed social media posts.
Scarlett made a grovelling apology to the business and her 2 million Instagram followers, promising to return the tulle skirt back to My Suitcase Boutique, and insisting the situation was a misunderstanding.

As unveiled by MailOnline, Scarlett approached MySuitcase Boutique on Instagram on 31 May to ask for a customised version of their signature tulle skirt with crystal stars, to wear for the first ever Virgin Atlantic Pride flight to New York on 28 June, in return for ‘lots of posts.’
However, after receiving a bespoke pink version of the garment, Scarlett – who didn’t wear the skirt to the Pride event – failed to share any images of the skirt online, as promised, and ignored multiple messages from the heartbroken boutique owner.
Finally breaking her silence, Scarlett wrote on her Instagram stories: ‘I’ve been super busy and intended to wear the @mysuitcaseboutique but instead will be returning the skirt.

Scarlett went on to explain she was completely unaware of the backlash- despite Twitter users saying they were blocked by the Gogglebox star when they slammed her for ignoring the boutique owner’s countless requests.
‘I don’t google my name and knew none of this until today. Also side note I haven’t used Twitter in 7 months apart from links to Insta. That’s why I deleted it, nothing to do with this incident.’

The owner, Michaela Liu, wrote: ‘I have accepted @scarlettmoffatt apology and I believe it is completely genuine, please can I ask that you stop with the trolling and the hate mail towards her, the post was never intended to cause any nastiness, purely to attempt to get a response from her.
‘Now that we have spoken, we have agreed for the skirt to be sent back.’
The public apology comes after Scarlett finally responded to the owner of MySuitcase Boutique, Michaela, 27 – only to swiftly delete the four messages and then BLOCK the boutique on Instagram.

Michaela told MailOnline: ‘I didn’t want to read the messages because it was close to midnight and I wanted to be in the right frame of mind to reply.
‘And then, when I looked on Tuesday morning, the messages were gone, so I messaged her asking why they were no longer visible. And that’s when I realised she’d blocked me.’
MailOnline contacted Scarlett’s representatives for comment at the time.
In the midst of the drama the Gogglebox star deleted her Twitter account- something which Scarlett says has nothing to do with the backlash she faced on the social media platform.

Speaking to MailOnline earlier this week, Michaela branded Scarlett as having ‘taken advantage’ of her and slammed the reality star for being ‘rude and disrespectful.’
Michaela told MailOnline: ‘I work a full time job as well as run a business paying for all the stock out of my own money, working every hour under the sun. I do everything on my own.
‘As a clothing brand, I rely on collaborations with Instagram influencers to get my business noticed, as well as word of mouth and great customer feedback.
‘I was approached on Instagram by Scarlett Moffatt asking me if I do collaborations. I couldn’t believe it when she messaged me, I obviously would never turn down this opportunity working with Queen of the jungle!
‘I remember feeling gutted and deflated and very confused when I saw Scarlett wearing the hat she’d described to me, but wearing a different outfit – with no sign of the skirt.

Michaela confessed that her anxiety levels grew as days passed by and Scarlett still failed to post about the skirt she’d received, and continued to ignore all of her messages from MySuitcase boutique’s Instagram account.
‘Already feeling heartbroken about the promised collaboration, my anxiety grew when I waited for her reply, asking if she’d managed to wear the skirt.
‘I just didn’t understand how she was taking so long to reply, when she was messaging me straight away when we were discussing sending the skirt. Four days later with still no response I decided to message again, but again I got nothing.
‘I’ve watched her Instagram each day since I sent my last message, seeing her posting on her stories, seeing her sat at home watching Love Island and being ‘active 1 minute ago’.
‘Maybe she has millions if messages from followers so I remained patient, yet again, but I couldn’t help but feel sick and cheated.’
Appealing for a response: Michaela explained: ‘I was hoping this may get a quicker response, because I am sure she wouldn’t want her fans seeing what she had done’
