Sarah-Jane Mee and fiance Ben Richardson take daughter Rae on a stroll

Is this the woman who will replace Kay Burley? Sky News host Sarah-Jane Mee dotes on daughter Rae Brenda, six months, as she and fiancé Ben Richardson enjoy a family stroll

She welcomed her first child with fiancé Ben Richardson on June 24.

And Sarah-Jane Mee was seen stepping out for a stroll with her beau and their daughter Rae Brenda, who they pushed along in her stroller.

The Sky presenter, 42, was the picture of a doting mother as she smiled down at her little one while the trio walked through London on Saturday.

Sarah-Jane swapped Sky News slots with Kay Burley – now ordered off-air for six months by furious bosses after flouting Covid rules for her 60th birthday party – last year.

But she is rumoured to be stepping back into the role when she returns from maternity leave while Kay is suspended on full pay.

Sarah-Jane put on a casual chic display in a grey coat that she wore over a black jumper and simple denim jeans.

She complemented her casual look by stepping out in red trainers, and accessorised with a grey scarf and chic shades.

Sarah-Jane’s strawberry blonde locks were brushed into a sleek, straight style, and she embraced her natural beauty by going make-up free.

Ben opted for more casual attire as he donned a white hoodie over black jogging bottoms, and completed the look with black trainers.

In August, Sarah-Jane revealed that their baby girl is called Rae Brenda after the couple kept hearing about rainbows and rays of hope in lockdown.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, the Sky News presenter also gushed that her daughter is her very own ‘little ray of sunshine’ as she shared the first photo of her baby girl.

Sarah-Jane explained how during the lockdown she and Ben ‘kept hearing about rainbows and rays of hope and we came up with her name from that’.

The proud mum said: ‘The morning after she was born, Ben said to me, “I think she’s a Rae”, and I remember looking at her and thinking, “You’re right, she’s Rae and she’s our little ray of sunshine”.’

It’s a girl! The presenter confirmed she’d welcomed her bundle of joy back in June with a sweet social media post showing little Rae wearing a baby grow with ‘breaking news’ written on it

Despite planning a home birth, Sarah-Jane had to go in to hospital because of complications and developing pre-eclampsia, with her ending up having a c-section.

She explained: ‘I went in on a Saturday and went through every stage of labour, but we got to Tuesday night and I was only two centimetres dilated.

‘It was really disappointing as my body wasn’t ready, but we had to get her out safely so they recommended I have a C-section.’

Parents: The presenter explained her name choice for baby Rae came after she kept hearing about rainbows and rays of hope while pregnant in lockdown (pictured with Ben in 2019)

Gorgeous: In April, Sarah-Jane revealed she was planning a home birth so that Ben could be at her side during the labour, however they ended up having Rae in hospital after complications

The presenter said that ‘one of the positives of lockdown has been Ben being at home so he has been in this 50/50 with me’.

Speaking about their first few weeks as parents, Sarah-Jane said that they’ve been sharing the work and Ben has helped with the night feeds.

Sarah-Jane added: ‘We’re a tag team. At night, I will feed her and then he’ll take her from me so I can go back to sleep. He takes it in his stride and has made me feel more confident too.’

New routine: Sarah-Jane recently said she and Ben have been doing everything 50-50 since Rae arrived

Sarah-Jane became an anchor for the breakfast programme Sky Sunrise in 2016, replacing Eamonn Holmes, who had been in the role for 11 years.

She swapped her old morning role for the 2-5pm Sarah-Jane Mee Show on Sky News last year, with now-shamed presenter Kay Burley taking the morning slot.

But Kay has now been taken off air for six months after breaching coronavirus rules at her 60th birthday at the Century Club on December 5.

Miss Burley was pictured filling out airport paperwork to ensure she followed Covid-19 rules – days after she was suspended from Sky News for breaking restrictions at her 60th birthday party

Kay Burley was pictured at Johannesburg Airport last night as she flew home from a seven-day trip to a £1,500-a-night safari lodge

She had visited a restaurant in central London with nine other diners then used a different restaurant’s bathroom after the 11pm curfew.

Kay then continued the party at her Knightsbridge home along with three others.

Internal investigations at Sky led to her suspension and now Sarah-Jane is rumoured to be in contention to replace her when she returns after maternity leave.

Fellow revellers political editor Beth Rigby and correspondent Inzamam Rashid agreed to come off air for three months.

Sources have told MailOnline the journalist was flown 300 miles by light aircraft from the luxury game lodge where she was staying, at Richard Branson’s Ulusaba resort in Kruger National Park

Kay, pictured at Johannesburg Airport yesterday, apologised to her Sky colleagues and branded herself an ‘idiot’ for hosting the party in Soho and inviting people back to her home afterwards

Kay has spent the last week basking at a luxury £1,500-a-night lodge on her South African safari.

She returned to London yesterday dressed in a white tee-shirt with matching facemask.

The presenter looked unperturbed as she dealt with formalities at check-in before heading to the BA lounge to await her First Class flight home.

Kay apologised to her Sky colleagues and branded herself an ‘idiot’ for hosting the party in Soho and inviting people back to her home afterwards.

Following the incident, a leaked email from Kay, reportedly sent to her Sky News colleagues after her party was rumbled, saw her admit she had let her team down over her coronavirus rule break.

The message seen by Mail Online read: ‘Dear all, I’m an idiot. ‘I’m really very sorry. I know I have let so many of you down.

‘There’s really nothing else I can say to excuse my actions.’

Political editor Beth Rigby and Kay took to Twitter shortly after her suspension was announced, and wrote a lengthy apology, insisting her actions were accidental.

She wrote: ‘I have agreed with Sky News to step back from my broadcasting role for a period of reflection.

Beth Rigby, 44, broke cover for the first time since the scandal to grab a coffee with husband Angelo Acanfora in London on Tuesday morning

‘It’s clear to me that we are all in the fight against Covid-19 and that we all have a duty to stick firmly by the rules.

‘It doesn’t matter that I thought I was Covid-compliant on a recent social event. The fact is I was wrong, I made a big mistake, and I am sorry.’

‘Some dear friends and colleagues – some of the most talented and committed professionals in our business – have been pulled into this episode and I regret this enormously.

‘I was one of the founding presenters on Sky News. No one is prouder of our channel’s reputation, the professionals on our team, and the impact we make.

‘I very much look forward to being able to continue my 32 year career with Sky when I return.’
