EXCLUSIVE ‘When I first met Zara, she weighed a lot more and didn’t exercise’: Sam Thompson discusses Love Island star’s 2st weight loss and says she’s ‘always been beautiful’
Sam Thompson has spoken out about his girlfriend Zara McDermott’s staggering two stone weight loss.
The Made In Chelsea star, 28, told MailOnline when he first met the Love Island star, 23, a little over a year ago she ‘wasn’t happy where she was and never exercised’.
Last August, Zara weighed 10st 7lbs but is now 8st 9lbs, and her boyfriend Sam said while she was ‘always beautiful in my eyes’, he can see how much happier she is in herself.

Sam, who has partnered up with Captain Morgan to promote their new Tiki drink, said: ‘I think she’s in f*****g great shape. When I first met Zara she weighed a lot more and she was not so happy about where she was.
‘She was still beautiful in my eyes- obviously I went out with her didn’t I? She looked great either way.
‘She wasn’t happy with her lifestyle, her health, she never exercised. She’s training a lot and eats more than she ever used to, she just eats healthily.’

Sam went on to say how it upsets him when he has seen Zara make such positive changes in her life, only to be trolled for being ‘too skinny’.
Last month, Zara reposted a bikini-clad picture after deleting it in a defiant display.
She wrote at the time: ‘It hasn’t been an overnight fix, it’s taken me a whole year to get here, mentally and physically. I am PROUD’.
Of how seeing Zara being trolled affects him, Sam said: ‘It’s hard when someone goes “oh my god, you’re too skinny”. No, she’s her natural body weight.

‘She can go on long runs and deadlift 50kg. She’s made such amazing strides and is in such a great place mentally, but then you get a lot of people saying “oh god, you’re too skinny”.
‘Stop bring people down for, in their eyes, they are making themselves feel and look better.’
Sam added he has so much admiration for Zara for the hard work she puts into fitness and healthy eating.

He said: ‘When I see Zara putting in the work, she works so hard and everything is so natural. Whereas you get other people in the public eye getting things f*****g sucked out of them and things put in.
‘And people look at them and say “oh you’re body’s so good”, well that’s f*****g fake.
‘But I keep telling her she just has to make herself happy and I’m always going to stand there with her and be happy for her.
‘She’s on a journey herself, it’s so cool to see.’
