Rochelle Humes shares daughter Alaia’s sweet reaction to meeting Kate Middleton

Rochelle Humes was the picture-perfect proud mum as her daughter Alaia met Kate Middleton at a London event earlier this week.

Rochelle, who recently celebrated with the world’s elite at a private Beyonce concert, attended the Princess of Wales’ Shaping Us initiative at a glitzy reception at BAFTA in London on Monday.

The event celebrated the new initiative which aims to improve society's understanding of the importance of early childhood in shaping adulthood and society as a whole.

Alaia-Mai looked adorable as she sported a chic floral print dress with a high neck collar and lace trim detail as she stood beside her mum.

Rochelle, 33, looked just as incredible as she rocked a chocolate brown ensemble comprised of a silky maxi dress complete with long sleeves.

“There’s only one reason that she’s here,” the singer said as she met Kate. Turning to the Princess, she continued: "And… it's your hair. She has the best hair, mum!”

Early Childhood’s Instagram account shared the moment Alaia, whose dad is Marvin Humes, met her hero alongside the caption: “Our Champions, Advisory Group and advocates have been such a big part of helping us make #ShapingUs come to life.”

Rochelle reshared the picture with her own followers alongside the caption: “Her face…”

She also posted a short clip for her 2.2 million followers that showed Kate meeting her daughter and the speech she gave on stage.

In the caption, she penned: “What a truly special night. If there is ever an opportunity to lend my voice and my platform to raising awareness to key topics I’m passionate about, I will always say yes.

“I was therefore compelled when invited by HRH The Princess of Wales to speak at the launch of #ShapingUp.

“@earlychildhood is raising awareness of how the first five years of life shape the rest of our lives, as during this period our brains develop faster than at any other time. It also brings into focus how every single person in our society has a role to play in supporting children and their parents.”

Rochelle continued to say the subject is “very close” to her heart and has been championing the campaign since first learning about it during the pandemic.

She added: “As you might be able to tell from the video aswell a certain little 9 year olds year was also made last night (including a McDonalds on the way home!) Something tells me she had lots to discuss in school today!”

Kate was pictured sporting a red Alexander McQueen blazer and chandelier earrings as she mingled with the guests that included Kate Silverton and rapper Professor Green.

The event also saw Kate give a speech to the star-studded crowd, as she said: “The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.

“During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life.

“And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live."
