Robert De Niro stresses importance of voting after bomb scare

Robert De Niro broke his silence Friday, a day after receiving a mail bomb at his Manhattan office, by imploring people to exercise their right to vote.

“I thank God no one’s been hurt, and I thank the brave and resourceful security and law enforcement people for protecting us,” the “Raging Bull” actor said in a statement. “There’s something more powerful than bombs, and that’s your vote. People MUST vote!”

De Niro was one of several critics of President Trump who were sent suspicious packages containing what appeared to be pipe bombs.

The outspoken Oscar winner ranted “F—k Trump” in his speech at the Tony Awards in June, prompting the president to tweet, “Robert De Niro, a very Low IQ individual, has received to [sic] many shots to the head by real boxers in movies. I watched him last night and truly believe he may be ‘punch-drunk.’”
