Rob Kardashian skipped attending Kourtney Kardashian's Italian wedding

‘He doesn’t like a spectacle’: Rob Kardashian ‘didn’t feel comfortable’ attending Kourtney Kardashian’s Italian wedding after retreating from the spotlight to live a ‘private’ life

Fans of the Kardashian–Jenner clan missed seeing one of the key family members at Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding to Travis Barker — her younger brother Rob Kardashian.

The 35-year-old one-time reality star opted to skip the lavish nuptials in Portofino, Italy, over the weekend because he ‘didn’t feel comfortable’ with all of the ‘spectacle,’ E! News reported on Tuesday.

Rob had been largely absent from the latter seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, following the fall out from his failed relationship with Blac Chyna, who lost her $100 million lawsuit against several of his sisters and his mother Kris Jenner.

Although almost every other member of Rob’s family seemed to be living it up at Kourtney and Travis’ wedding in coast Portofino, he wanted to keep out of the spotlight after previously shunning it.

‘Rob didn’t feel comfortable attending Kourtney’s wedding because he doesn’t like a spectacle,’ a source close to him said.

They added that the celebration was ‘just not his thing,’ and he didn’t venture out often because he had ‘become an extremely private person’ in recent years.

Luckily, there wasn’t any bad blood between Rob and his oldest sister, who understood his situation and desires.

‘Kourtney and the entire family completely understand,’ the source clarified. ‘Kourtney didn’t expect Rob to attend and knows she has his support either way.’

The Poosh founder was likely cued in that Rob wouldn’t be making the international voyage after he also sat out his sister Kim’s 2014 wedding to Kanye West.

In 2016, he revealed to People that part of the reason he skipped the nuptials was because of his discomfort with his body and weight gain at the time.

‘I was doing my suit fittings in Paris right before the wedding and I just wasn’t comfortable,’ he explained. ‘I’m 6-foot-1 and at my most I probably weighed 300 lbs. There were cameras at the airport on our trip there and I was very unhappy with the person I saw in all the pictures. I’m upset I missed my sister’s wedding, but it was a personal decision.’

Rob disengaged from the family’s former reality show shortly afterward following the implosion of his relationship with Blac Chyna.

‘Rob likes to stay out of the spotlight and keep to himself,’ the source added. ‘He will make appearances at more private low-key events but doesn’t like to be around the cameras and at events like this.’

Aside from Rob, his sisters Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie all made the trip to Italy for the wedding, as did his mother Kris, who filled in to walk Kourtney down the aisle.

Last year, during the reunion finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloé tried to explain Rob’s absence from the series, which she attributed more to his traumatizing relationship with Chyna than his body image and health struggles.

‘It’s not so much about physical appearance,’ she explained, adding that he ‘just needed a break’ from filming.

‘It’s about how he felt internally about some of the women in his life, and how they treated him or how he felt they might have used him to get to certain areas or levels,’ she continued.

‘I think that really affected him, because my brother is such a lover, and has the most incredible heart and personality,’ Khloé gushed. ‘I think he’s just getting stronger. I think you have to get heartbroken and learn from your mistakes, and I think he’s just stronger and feeling better to be around, and be more vulnerable or exposed.’

Overruled: Rob sat out the wedding after his ex Blac Chyna lost her $100 million lawsuit against his sisters and mother, claiming they defamed her and schemed to get her reality series canceled; seen in 2016

Earlier this month, Rob’s former partner Blac Chyna lost her $100 million lawsuit that she filed against Kris, Kim, Khloé and Kylie for allegedly defaming her and convincing the E! Network to cancel her reality series Rob & Chyna.

The jury voted against Chyna on all counts, though they conceded that the Kardashian–Jenners often acted in bad faith.

During the intense trial, Rob testified that one celebration at the initial renewal of their show turned into an abusive fight when she allegedly pointed a gun at him, hit him with a metal rod and wrapped a phone charging cord around his throat.

In her own testimony, she denied being violent but admitted to pointing the gun and putting the cord around his neck, which she claimed was just a joke.

Rob previously got into hot water when he posted nude revenge porn photos of Chyna in 2017 to Instagram. The platform subsequently banned him, but his mother’s communication company was later allowed to run an official page for him, which he claims to not post to directly.

He and Chyna share a five-year-old daughter Dream, who spends plenty of time with her cousins but is also largely absent from their reality shows.
