Rita Ora unveils new pet name tattoo that was given to her by mum Vera

Rita Ora delightedly unveils her new ‘Zog’ neck tattoo… as she reveals the Albanian word is the pet name given to her by beloved mum Vera

She’s known for her intricately detailed tattoos.

And Rita Ora showed off her latest ink in an Instagram post on Friday, after she got a tattoo in honour of her mother Vera.

The singer, 29, had the word ‘zog’ tattooed underneath her ear to pay tribute to her parent, who used the nickname while Rita was growing up.

Tribute: Rita Ora delightedly unveiled her new ‘Zog’ neck tattoo… as she revealed the Albanian word is the pet name given to her by beloved mum Vera in an Instagram post on Friday

Gushing about the tribute, she wrote: ‘When I was younger my mum @veraor would call me her zog ‘Zogi mamit’ she would say, which means her little baby bird in Albanian.

‘So thank you @_dr_woo_ for making this memory with me I love it so much. And for my extra finger jewels too love love.’

Clearly delighted by Rita’s new tattoo, Vera gushed in a comment ‘YES & ALWAYS’, while her sister Elena shared a few heart emojis.

Rita’s post comes after she admitted that fans only see the ‘workaholic and thick-skinned’ side of her as she stuns for a new photoshoot for LOVE Magazine.

She candidly revealed that while fans seem to have a hard-working preconception of her, in reality she’s ‘vulnerable, sensitive and pretty emotional.’

The Anywhere hitmaker said: ‘I’ve done so much partying, and I just felt the time was right to do something different for my birthday. So I thought, let’s go into the desert, let’s go for a hike, let’s breathe in some fresh air for a change.

‘People see the workaholic, headstrong, thick-skinned twentysomething, but there’s another side to me, one that is vulnerable, sensitive and pretty emotional.’

Delighted: Rita thanked tattoo artist Doctor Woo for ‘making this memory with me’ as she said she loved ‘it so much’

Here we go again: In February last year, the British singer paid a visit to Manhattan’s famous Bang Bang Tattoo

She continued: ‘My music is what it is, and does what it does – thankfully – and I’ve never really had to show that side of myself professionally; in fact I have purposely hidden it. But maybe I’m ready. Is this what growing up feels like?’

‘When I started, there was no Instagram; I think Twitter had just started. It was all about radio play and actual physical album sales instead of streams. Nowadays, it’s streams and views that really do the talking.

‘And this is empowering those who can find a more organic audience. It has allowed for more self-expression on behalf of the artist and the audience, especially for women in the business.’
