Prince William would be ‘absolutely fine’ if one of his children were gay

While paying his first visit to an LGBTQ charity in London, Prince William let the world know that he’d be perfectly happy if one of his children were gay.

“Do you know what, I’ve been giving that some thought recently because a couple of other parents said that to me as well,” he said when asked how he’d react if one if his kids came out as LGBTQ, via the BBC and Express. “I think, you really don’t start thinking about that until you are a parent, and I think – obviously absolutely fine by me.”

“The one thing I’d be worried about,” he added, ” is how they – particularly (in) the roles my children fill – is how that is going to be interpreted and seen. So Catherine and I have been doing a lot of talking about it to make sure they were prepared.”

Prince William and Duchess Kate are the parents of three children: 5-year-old George, 4-year-old Charlotte and 1-year-old Louis.

The prince noted he would be worried as a parent, because of the “hateful words, persecution, all that and discrimination that might come” with one of his children revealing they were gay.

“It worries me not because of them being gay; it worries me as to how everyone else will react and perceive it and then the pressure is then on them.”‘

The British royal family had its first same-sex wedding last year, when Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin Lord Ivar Mountbatten married his partner James Coyle in a small ceremony.
