Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Emily Ratajkowski led the stars in putting on show-stopping displays as they posed for the Pirelli 2023 calendar.

The new calendar, entitled Love Letters To The Muse, was unveiled on Wednesday and also sees A-list names including Ashley Graham, Lila Moss, Karlie Kloss and Adwoa Aboah pose up a storm in 28 racy shots.

The ‘magical realist’ 48th edition was presented at the Pirelli HangarBicocca contemporary art museum in Milan and was created by Emma Summerton, who dedicated the calendar to her ‘muses’ – the women who have guided and inspired her.

Pirelli did not publish its calendar in 2021 due to the Covid pandemic but returned in 2022 with the likes of Rita Ora, Saweetie and Jennifer Hudson fronting an ‘On The Road’ calendar.

2020’s offering marked a new era for the brand, stepping away from typical topless models and sexy shoots in favour of a Juliet-themed spread that saw stars such as Emma Watson and Claire Foy pose up a storm fully-clothed in the brand’s ‘wokest’ shoot to date.

In the latest breath-taking calendar, supermodel Bella, 26, put on a sizzling display in a barely-there beaded bra, fastened together with intricate strings and a statement choker necklace.

Her very skimpy ensemble was complete with a sheer skirt embellished with an array of shells and beads, while she accessorised her look with a pair of colourful elbow-length gloves.

She styled her brunette tresses loosely in damp curls while she had a few strands carefully crafted into curls across her forehead.

Dreamlike world: In one shot, model Cara, 30, put her lithe physique on full display as she danced across a landscape of dandelions, with the photograph edited so four of her appeared in a row

Bella fixed a horn headpiece on top of her head to bring together the mythical look and accentuated her striking features with a dramatic black and white smokey make-up palette.

Her edgy ensemble saw her embody the traditional muse of ‘the sprite’ as she posed in front of black curtains, with the moon seen dramatically framed above the dark backdrop.

In another shot, model Cara, 30, put her lithe physique on full display as she danced across a landscape of dandelions, with the photograph edited so four of her appeared in a row.

She put on a leggy display in a black bra and pants, which she wore underneath a ripped and distressed string skirt as she posed as the character of ‘the performer’.

Cara added a touch of glitz to her unique ensemble with a black choker necklace and an extravagant silver jewelled headpiece, fixed on top of her loose golden locks.

Sexy: Emily, 31, also graced the prestigious calendar and cut a racy figure as she posed kneeling on top of a bed in a skimpy black ensemble as she embodied a character of ‘the writer’

She gave herself a few extra inches in black strapped stilettos and bolstered her natural beauty with a touch of bronzer and a dramatic touch of eyeliner.

Emily, 31, also graced the prestigious calendar and cut a racy figure as she posed kneeling on top of a bed in a skimpy black ensemble as she embodied ‘the writer’.

She captured attention in a black bra and pants, worn underneath a sheer black cardigan which featured dramatic lace sleeves and gave a flash of her toned abs.

The American model paired her sexy outfit with a pair of black stockings and an edgy asymmetrical black hat as she posed with a mirror held up to her face.

Her glowing features could be seen reflected in the hand mirror and she added to her stunning looks with a bold touch of rouge lipstick.

Iconic: The new calendar, entitled Love Letters To The Muse, was unveiled on Wednesday and also sees A-list names including Ashley Graham (pictured), Lila Moss, Karlie Kloss and Adwoa Aboah pose up a storm in 28 racy shots

Elsewhere, Ashley Graham was also seen posing in a magical blue landscape as she sported a one-shouldered gold dress with a dramatic train, worn over a metallic gold bra.

The star, 35, wore her brunette tresses in dampened waves and accessorised her statement look with patent gold latex gloves and an array of chunky bejewelled rings.

She showed off her natural beauty with a light dusting of make-up as she starred as ‘the activist’ for the ‘magical realism’ themed calendar shoot.

Precious Lee also joined the line-up in a stunning lilac shimmering gown, paired with matching wet-look blue tresses as she starred as ‘the storyteller’ in the dreamlike world.

Lila, the daughter of Kate Moss, stars in the opening image of the calendar while huge names in the modelling industry including Adwoa Adoah, Sasha Pivovarova, Lauren Wasser, Kaya Wilkins, He Cong and Adut Akech also appear.

Photographer Emma Summerton is the fifth woman to put her name to the iconic calendar since its first edition was launched back in 1964, saying she was inspired by ‘women who do extraordinary, creative things’ when putting together the edition.

Emma said of the project: ‘For the Calendar, I wanted to go back to the etymological root of the word ‘muse’. The muse originally represented the source, not just inspiring but also possessing talents in literature, science and the arts.’

‘So my idea was to celebrate these extraordinary women and create a world in which to represent them,’ she added.

The theme of the ‘photographer’ muse was the starting point for the show-stopping calendar, with Guinevere van Seenus being chosen for the role, before Sasha Pivovarova was selected to embody a painting.

Emma said of Sasha’s input: ‘There are loops and circles joining up because Sasha doesn’t see the difference between modelling and painting, which creates a beautiful synergy.’

She wanted to pay tribute to each of the models own individuality as she selected the muses they would represent while drawing together the incredible shoot.

The Pirelli calendar 2023 brings together 28 show-stopping photographs featuring 14 iconic models as they pose amid dreamy landscapes and represent the muse in the artwork.

The sensational photographs were created in London and New York in shoots that took place across June and July as Emma aimed to create a ‘magical realism’ feel for the edition.

‘In my shots, the borderline between the role that the models play and what they really are is not clearly defined and everything blends together to create images that sing to magical realism,’ the photographer explained.

In 2020, the brand largely ditched their raunchy history for a ‘woke’ new image, naked snap aside. The calendar was first released in 1964 and caused a stir when it featured full nudity for the first time nine years later.

After 10 years out of print due to financial constraints, Pirelli returned with a bang in 1984 – sultrier and sexier than every before.

The Italian tyre company first signaled it was changing direction with its 2017 calendars, announcing it was ‘ripping up the rule book’ and giving the hotly-anticipated calendar a new feminist overhaul.

The spread featured Robin Wright, Julianne Moore, Charlotte Rampling, and Helen Mirren (then aged 50, 55, 70 and 71 respectively) and was hailed a triumph for its representation of older women.

Glam: Ashley Graham looked incredible in an olive green satin gown with a dramatic collar as she arrived at the Calendario Pirelli 2023 Presentation on Wednesday

The Pirelli calendar was once synonymous with scantily-clad women, sizzling photo shoots and topless models.

The 2020 calendar saw A-list stars including Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart and Claire Foy pose fully clothed – in everything from denim jackets to period costumes – as they each take on the role of Shakespeare’s Juliet.

The spread, shot by celebrated fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, was dubbed the ‘wokest’ Pirelli calendar to date.

The dramatic departure from the glamour shots of the 80s and 90s is a clear signal that Pirelli is determined to shed its racy image once and for all, following a string of similarly progressive calendars in recent years.

Certainly there is no way that accusation could be levelled against this iteration, which features a diverse cast of actors, models and singers posing in brooding, artistic shots.

Gone were the skimpy bikinis, provocative posing and nudity – Kate Moss, Amy Schumer and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have all stripped off for previous Pirelli shoots – and in their place were women posing in denim jackets and ripped jeans. The Crown’s Claire Foy even dons a grey knitted cardigan in one of the behind-the-scenes shots.

In 2020, those featured were all in their 20s and 30s but have all made headlines for their outspoken views on social political issues.

The full line-up included: Emma Watson, Claire Foy, Kristen Stewart, Yara Shahidi, Mia Goth, Rosalia, Indya Moore, Chris Lee and Stella Roversi.
