Piers Morgan has insisted he will "never" appear on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers, 56, branded the show "humiliating" and "ghastly" after he was invited to take part in the new series.

I'm A Celeb hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly urged Piers to appear on the show after it was suggested by Lorraine Kelly, who recently said she has "no doubt" Piers will return to GMB.

Speaking on her daytime ITV show earlier this week Lorraine, 61, told hosts Ant and Dec, both 45: "I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be looming very very soon and of course all the rumours are just starting.

"You have always said you guys want Piers Morgan to go in there. Is that still the case?"

Ant replied: "He's not working at the moment, so you know, he'll be looking for a job."

Lorraine commented: "He's got a bit of time on his hands, who knows."

But, Piers has bluntly turned the offer down in his latest column with the Mail Online.

He wrote: "As speculation mounts over my next career move, most of it fuelled by me, Lorraine Kelly has urged Ant and Dec to sign me up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, saying: 'I think he’d be absolutely amazing in there!'

"'Well, he’s not working at the moment, so he’ll be looking for a job,' scoffed Ant, as Dec cackled like a slathering hyena at the thought of luring me into their hellish jungle prison camp."

Outspoken star Piers then insisted: "Let me make one thing crystal clear: there’s no way I’m ever exposing myself to a series of ghastly gastronomic humiliations for the delectation of the British public.

"When I munch kangaroo testicles, I do so in the privacy of my home."

Piers previously told fans on Twitter he would take part in the show, but in exchange for a hefty fee.

He told hosts Ant and Dec: "You give me, let’s say, £10 million, and I’ll fly in tomorrow and win it."

Piers quit GMB earlier this year after storming off set amid a furious row with Alex Beresford about his comments on Meghan Markle.

It was reported he was told by ITV bosses to apologise for his comments or leave his role.

This weekend, Piers fired up about him leaving GMB, three months after leaving his post, as he wrote on Twitter: "ITV didn't get rid of me.

"I left GMB because I declined to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.

"But I still work for ITV, as you'll see tomorrow when my Life Stories show with @Joancollinsdbe airs at 9pm."
