Phillip Schofield ditches silver fox look as he debuts light blue hair

Phillip Schofield ditches his signature silver fox appearance as he debuts light blue hair at a family BBQ amid Amanda Holden feud

It was recently claimed that he blocked Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden from landing a hosting gig.

But Phillip Schofield appeared to brush aside the rumours as he ditched his signature silver fox look in favour of light blue hair during a fun-filled family BBQ on Saturday.

In a series of Instagram clips, the presenter, 57, couldn’t contain his shock as a relative sprayed his naturally grey ‘do with temporary hair dye, causing the star to shout out: ‘Does it wash out? I’m on the telly on Monday!’

Larking around a garden, the Dancing On Ice host yelled: ‘Oh… s**t’ when he finally saw his fresh appearance, before sharing a snap of himself with his lookalike mother Pat, 83.

Alongside the caption: ‘My mother encouraged this!!!’, the TV star’s parent also sported smurf-inspired hair in the sweet image.

Clearly a fan of his new look, Phillip’s This Morning co-presenter Holly Willoughby left a series of heart emojis under his post.

The former Cube star sent his social media followers wild with his blue hair as one commented: ‘Mum’s always know best’, while another joked: ‘blue hair dye? keep it for Monday.’

Rumours: It was recently claimed that he blocked Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda, 48, from landing a hosting gig (pictured together in October 2015)

‘Suits ya both though… it brings out your eyes! Xx’, another delighted fan penned.

Phillip’s new look comes amid reports fellow presenter Amanda, 48, claimed he blocked her from landing a top presenting job.

Insiders revealed to The Sun that the mother-of-two believes the telly favourite scuppered her chances of filling in on This Morning during his co-star Holly’s absence, while she hosted I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

Reports have long been rife about troubles between the TV hosts, with the latest detail of the story claiming Amanda headed to the top by lobbying ITV executives over the animosity after Phil allegedly pushed for Rochelle Humes to take the job.

The Sun Online reports that Amanda had already been told she had the job before the chance was taken away – in what she deemed was a campaign from Phillip.

A former daytime TV executive told the publication: ‘Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes, 30, to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced – and having been told privately she’d got the gig.’

MailOnline has approached Amanda, Phillip and This Morning representatives for comment. An ITV spokesperson said: ‘Presenter line ups on This Morning change regularly and final decisions on these line ups are made by producers and not the presenters.

‘Phillip Schofield is a much loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He is a consummate professional and held in high regard at ITV.’

Just this month Heart FM radio host Amanda hinted at some animosity between herself and Phillip. When asked the three things she would least like to find in her home, she replied: ‘Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield’.

It was reported back in November that Amanda had reportedly confronted Phillip after feeling ‘let down’ after she failed to land the This Morning presenting gig while Holly was away.

Instead, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle landed the coveted job alongside Phillip while his regular co-host Holly took over Ant McPartlin’s hosting duties for I’m A Celeb while he took an extended break from TV.

New role: The alleged confrontation is said to have taken place during an advert break when the judge was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning in October

The Sun Online claimed the alleged confrontation took place during an advert break when the judge was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning in October, days after Rochelle was confirmed to be stepping in.

Amanda appeared on This Morning to talk to the award-winning presenting duo about her work with charity Tommy’s on October 8.

A source told the publication: ‘She made it clear that she felt very let down. He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.

‘Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.’

The Sun made further claims that Amanda allegedly found out she didn’t get the job when she was taken out for lunch by ITV executives.

Amanda stepped into Holly’s shoes when the Celebrity Juice star took a year off the show to have her third baby five years ago in October 2014, and has joined the show on other occasions.

In 2015, Phillip confessed he found working alongside Amanda was ‘occasionally quite scary’.

He told Heat magazine at the time: ‘Amanda kept me on my toes. She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.’
