Pete Wicks discusses being single and his past relationships

‘There are lots of d**khead women’: Pete Wicks takes aim at his exes after a ‘fair few relationships that haven’t worked out too well’

Pete Wicks has admitted that some of his past relationships didn’t work out due to him not being ‘happy enough with himself’.

The TOWIE star, 32, reflected on his tumultuous love life and current single status on FUBAR Radio’s The Dating Show on Friday, claiming that there are just as many ‘d**khead women’ as there are men.

Pete’s previous girlfriends include Megan McKenna, Shelby Tribble and more recently Chloe Sims with the explosive relationships and splits being documented on The Only Way Is Essex.

Talking about his love life, he told co-host Cici Coleman and guest Lucy Spraggan: ‘My Nan has always said to me, “you can’t help anyone until you help yourself, and you can’t love anyone, until you love yourself.”

‘And I think that’s why I’m still single – I’m 32 and I’ve been in a fair few relationships that haven’t worked out too well. And I think a lot of that is because I perhaps haven’t been happy enough with myself before going into those relationships.’

Pete continued: ‘You look for the things that you don’t necessarily feel good about yourself, you look for someone else to give that to you.

‘You try and make up for that by looking for the things that you feel like you’re missing in your own life from someone else.’

Pete admitted that it is a ‘dangerous route’ to go down and it’s about ‘wanting’ someone there, not ‘needing’ them.

He continued: ‘And I think that’s a really dangerous route to get down and probably why a lot of relationships break down because actually it’s not about needing someone there, it’s about wanting someone there.’

Elsewhere during the radio show, Pete claimed that there are just as many ‘d**khead women’ as there are men.

He said: ‘I hear women say this a lot. “Why is every bloke this, and every bloke that?” Great, there are loads of d**khead men, I’m probably included in that and have been a d**khead previously.

Advice: Talking about his love life, he told co-host Cici Coleman and guest Lucy Spraggan: ‘My Nan has always said to me, “you can’t help anyone until you help yourself, and you can’t love anyone, until you love yourself.”‘

‘But there are also lots of d**khead women. Alright? It’s not just men. No, I’ve got to stick up for the boys here. You can’t just say all blokes are d**kheads because women are just as bad sometimes.’

Pete went on to say that he is ‘unlucky in love’ and that his new advice is to ‘stop looking’ for The One.

He continued: ‘A lot of us are unlucky in love – I’m unlucky in love, that’s what I’m going to call it – because you haven’t met the right person.

‘I don’t know where you find them. I think my advice is stop looking! Stop looking for someone and it may just come to you. When you look for something, you can never find it.. it’s like buses.’

Pete’s previous famous relationships include Megan McKenna, they started dated in 2016 but explosively split in 2017 with their rocky romance documented on TOWIE.

The pair – who had a famously fiery relationship – called it quits when Megan discovered that he had been sexting his ex Jacqui Ryland.

The star-crossed lovers briefly got back together while Megan was pursuing her musical ambitions in Nashville, but it sadly wasn’t meant to be.

However, the pair manged to quash any animosity after they both signed up to Celebs Go Dating in 2019.

Pete then found love with Shelby Tribble but their whirlwind romance ended in September 2019.

Shelby and Pete split after she discovered he had sent ‘disgusting’ messages to other girls and even ‘used her’ before their explosive break-up.

Discussing their separation on TOWIE at the time, she said: ‘I’ve not heard from him since the festival. That night, I heard he went to a strip club.’

An upset Shelby added: ‘I just feel like he’s used me. Those messages are disgusting. I don’t care if he says we weren’t official. We’ve been seeing each other for five months, we’ve been inseparable for five months.’

Also during the episode, Pete revealed to Chloe Sims that there was ‘something’ missing between him and Shelby, despite her being the type of woman he’d like to settle down with.

More recently, it was revealed that Pete had secretly been seeing his co-star and close friend Chloe Sims for two years with the dramatic revelation played out on TOWIE.

Their relationship has been rocky in recent months after the Celebs Go Dating star admitted that they had ‘blurred the lines’ between friendship and something more.

During their romance, the blonde had a fling with ex Dan Edgar, 30, which she’s since claimed was ‘revenge’.

The pair went to couple’s therapy on the show, but things seem to be over for good between the pair.

In December, it was claimed that Chloe is said to devastated after pulling the plug on her ‘friends with benefits’ romance with Pete.

The reality star was said to be heartbroken after he rebuffed her hopes of a relationship when she told him she was in love with him.

A source told New! magazine: ‘Pete backed off, insisting that as much as he does love her, he just doesn’t want to be her boyfriend.

‘Chloe was really hurt and this was her breaking point. She decided she can’t keep him in her life and so she cut him out.

‘She’s devastated because she put her cards on the table and allowed herself to be vulnerable, only to be rejected by him again. It hurts but she knows she can’t spend another Christmas feeling lonely and pining for him.’

The insider added their relationship is ‘over for good’ because Chloe wants to settle down, while Pete is happy single.

MailOnline contacted Chloe and Pete’s representatives for comment at the time.
