Pete Doherty hospitalized for infected hedgehog spike wound

British rocker Pete Doherty has been hospitalized following a run in with a hedgehog.

The Libertines frontman tweeted that he was in the hospital after a wound he got from touching a hedgehog spike became infected.

“A picture me in a hospital bed with an infected hedgehog spike wound thank you to the wonderful men and women who work within the NHS,” Kate Moss’ ex-boyfriend tweeted. “What absolute angels and a million times they deserve our respect and thanks.”

According to Doherty, his beloved dogs, Zeus and Narco, got hold of the spikey animal last week, and he was injured trying to free it from “their gobs.”

But it wasn’t the initial wound that proved to be so troublesome for the musician, it was what happened to it over the following days.

As he explained, “Cue three days in a van with a carefree attitude to potentially infected forefingers Infectious new songs on the album though…??.”

Doherty hasn’t offered any new updates on his condition since posting a grainy pic of himself in the hospital Tuesday night, but it would appear he’s on the mend as he’s moved on to retweeting the positive response to his upcoming album with the Puta Madres.
