Paul Hollywood’s girlfriend’s mum breaks silence over M&S ‘fight’

The mother of Paul Hollywood’s young girlfriend has made a shocking statement about the ‘fight’ in Marks & Spencer that involved her daughter and Paul’s estranged wife, Alex Hollywood.

Summer Monteys-Fullam’s sister Saskia posted the Instagram video in response to the incident last week.

Saskia started the video with the caption "the truth is finally out" before it cuts to her mum Sabina, who speaks for five minutes to reveal the truth about what actually happened.

Sabina says her daughter’s character has been muddied and asks everyone to "move on", but also admits she has "a lot of sympathy" for Alex.

And she says the attack was categorically started by Paul’s ex wife, who laid into Summer as she went shopping in Canterbury, Kent.

Alex has previously denied verbally abusing the young woman.

Sabina, who lives near the city, says: "It is with heavy heart that I come on camera for the first time to talk publicly.

"My family and I are currently being hounded by the press in response to an incident that occured on Valentine’s Day in and outside Marks & Spencer’s.

"My daughter Summer has been in a relationship with Paul Hollywood for just over a year and in that time, she and my family have been thrust into the spotlight and have been absolutely denigrated in the press, where lies upon lies have been said and salacious stories have been sold in order to fit a particular narrative – to sell papers.

"Summer’s character and reputation has been totally distorted in the media and it has been painful to watch as parents. She is a bubbly, funny and incredibly sweet-natured person and anyone who knows her well knows that she leaves and breathes for her ponies and her dogs, all seven of them.

"We are a normal family and have always kept a small circle so now I must come back to the incident…..

"Around 3.30pm on Valentine’s Day Summer was shopping at Marks and Spencer’s and at the checkout was confronted by a very angry Alex. She was loud and angry and said a lot of things in front of several witnesses that have been reported in the press.

"The cashier that was directly serving Summer at the time was concerned enough to ask her if she was OK.

"Summer was very shaken by the incident and called me asking what she should do and it just so happened that I was picking my younger daughter up from grammar school at the time and I said that i would be there in a few minutes, but not to do anything,

"When I arrived,Summer gave me more detail as to what had occurred in the situation and I saw Alex was still in the car in the car park. I told summer and my younger daughter to film so it was absolute and categoric proof of what occurred.

"We walked up to the car and I asked Alex to leave us, and my daughter, alone as her behaviour was unacceptable. I said that I had sympathy for her but she could not act in this way and left soon after without any of the allegations that have been reported occurring.

"She called the police on me the next day, where I showed them the video, which I still retained, from commencement to completion and they were wholly satisfied that no further action was necessary.

"It had clearly demonstrated that there was no swearing, no threatening behaviour, no intimidation or banging on the car by me or any of my group. This is why we filmed it specifically.

"I have a lot of sympathy for Alex and her family and the divorce being played out in public and I am especially sympathetic and empathetic as we too have had our lives played out and put in the spotlight, which I would not wish on anyone, so the last thing I’d want to do is make a situation worse for either family.

"However our voice has never been heard. We have maintained a silence which may have been misconstrued as weakness, but was simply, we felt, the best approach.

"We have never had media training, a spokesman, or representative to defend us or to refute any claims or put our side of the story across.

"However I feel it is our time to have our say, but I cannot trust the press to misquote me, to paraphrase me to suit, so I have come on here to speak unencumbered.

"It is over a year after the breakup, they were separated for a long time and we are sad that she is still so very angry about the situation and we really hope she can find it within herself to move on to a peace and happiness in her future as quickly as possible.

"….Saskia my eldest daughter, who has suffered the most, was not even involved in the incident whatsoever….she has been traced by the press, trolled on her Instagram for something she had no involvement in. This is not the first time such misreporting has occurred involving her.

"As for the Instagram post which has had much reporting, it had no relation to Alex whatsoever in any way at all, and in fact how could it have been when it was a week prior on my birthday, as part of my birthday celebrations?

"It was a fun and silly post unrelated to any of the reported incidents, no connection, no relation in any way whatsoever.

"I have since strictly instructed any of my girls never to post anything on their Instagram that can be misconstrued and used and twisted by the press to suit any narrative.

"This has been a learning curve for us all. I truly hope that we can all move on to lead happy, productive and peaceful lives.

"Maybe next time is speak about things it will be about happier things. Thank you for listening."

In the wake of the supermarket row, Alex denied any wrongdoing.

"Alex has kept a dignified position throughout the last 14 months, which have been extremely challenging, and continues to do so," said her rep.

"Alex was shocked to bump into Summer in her local supermarket, but even in that difficult situation she did not, and would not ever, verbally abuse anyone."

Mirror Online has approached Alex’s rep for comment.
