Patsy Palmer leavers viewers stunned as she reveals her REAL name is Julie Merkell and says she has gone by the moniker since moving to Malibu
She is a household name thanks to her role as Bianca Jackson on EastEnders.
But Patsy Palmer admitted that since moving over the pond to Malibu, she now goes by an altogether different name but claimed it does cause some confusion for her.
The soap star, 47, revealed that she introduces herself as Julie Merkell – her married name – when meeting new people in America, because they don’t know who she is.

Speaking during an appearance on This Morning, she said: ‘They [fans] don’t know me [in America] and I have another name. My name is Julie really, so I thought, ‘I’m going to get back to calling myself my real name.’
‘But I actually get so confused myself that sometimes I’ll say Patsy and sometimes I’ll say Julie. So now in Malibu they call me Patsy Julie. ‘Julie Anne Harris was my name, my married name is Julie Merkell’.
After joking that the two names even leaves herself confused at times, Patsy claimed that maybe she needs to go on Who Do You Think You Are to work it all out.

Patsy’s revelation left many viewers stunned, and they took to social media in disbelief after learning about the soap star’s real name.
One wrote: ‘Well I didn’t know that! Patsy Palmer’s real name is Julie!’ while another added: ‘Love Julie aka Patsy! Such a warm, down to earth woman!’
A third also tweeted: ‘Wow Patsy Palmer is still a sort #ThisMorning, I’m still confused by the name thing tho. Is Patsy just a stage name then?’

Discussing her last exit from the show, she said: ‘She [Bianca] met a guy called Terry, fell in love and became happy. She left and went to Milton Keynes and has been trying to get off that roundabout.
‘It was hinted that all was not well in her new life when her daughter Tiffany ditched her family to come back to Albert Square last year, and it remains to be seen whether there will be fireworks when the mother and daughter are reunited.’

She said ‘Usually they have people back and you have to be there for a year and that’s how the contracts are but that wouldn’t work for me.

‘When they said do you want to come back for a short stint I was like yeah. It’s so lovely. I’m friends with every single person.’
As well as using her real name, Patsy has increased her DJ work in America, but she doesn’t like to call herself a DJ for fear of ‘insulting’ career disc jockeys.
She said: ‘I love DJ-ing. I don’t want to say I’m a DJ, but I am. ‘But DJs don’t really like it. I guess maybe like any other profession, that’s what they’ve done as their profession for years … so I do say I’m not a DJ, but I just love playing music, and now I do. I don’t want to be insulting.
Ricckaaaaay! Patsy and her on-screen beau Ricky married twice during their times on the soap, with the second in 2010 coinciding with the soap’s 25th Anniversary
Patsy has also got to know Cindy Crawford because the supermodel’s daughter Kaia Gerber used to go to the same school as the soap star’s kids, and she has even spun the decks at school fundraisers.
She said: ‘[Cindy] is really lovely, as beautiful as you would imagine her to be, so down to earth.
Patsy recently couldn’t hide her pride as her daughter Emilia Merkell, 17, celebrated her high school graduation.
Joined by husband Richard Merkell, 54 and sons Fenton, 18, and Bertie, 8, the actress, 47, looked delighted see the budding model collect her diploma at Malibu High School.
