Oprah surprises Georgia residents while campaigning for Stacey Abrams

Oprah Winfrey gave residents in Georgia the thrill of their lives as she hit the campaign trail for Stacey Abrams, who is seeking election as the state’s first black woman governor.

Armed with a clipboard, the 64-year-old media mogul posted video on Instagram Thursday of herself going to door to door to get out the vote just days before the midterm elections.

One constituent, Denise, was floored to find Oprah standing on her doorstep.

“Hi Denise,” says Oprah, clad in a sage-colored velvet blazer.

“Oh my god! Hi Oprah!” responds a clearly shocked Denise.

The talk show host then cuts straight to business.

“So I’m canvassing for Stacey Abrams. Are you voting for her?” she asks.

When Denise responds that she’s “absolutely” voting for the Democrat, Oprah continues, “Do you have an early voting plan?” before the video cuts off.

Oprah captioned the clip, “U never know who’s gonna come a knocking! #teamabrams.”

In a video posted by Abrams’ Twitter page, Oprah recounts her time stumping in the Peach State.

“It’s my very first time ever canvassing for anybody, and it has been a really interesting experience because when you knock on a door, you don’t know what people are going to do or say or how they’re going to react,” she said. “I mean, this is the South. People have been really wonderful and really optimistic about Stacey Abrams.”

The billionaire added, “I wanted to do whatever I could to lend my support.”

Oprah also hosted two town halls with Abrams during her trip.

Recent polls show Abrams and her Republican opponent, Brian Kemp, Georgia’s secretary of state who has been endorsed by President Trump, in a dead heat.
