Nicole Kidman has revealed how she transformed herself into comedy legend Lucille Ball for new film, Being The Richardos.

The 54-year-old actress, who has described Lucille Ball as ‘complex’, said would spend hours practising her iconic ‘voice’ and ‘physicality’.

‘[It was a] crazy amount of hours fastidiously working on the physicality, on the voice, on the movements, just learning the words,’ Nicole told The Daily Telegraph.

Nicole also revaeled she was forced to do a lot of the preparation work for the role over Zoom due to the pandemic.

While the actress’ performance in Being The Ricardos has attracted Oscar Buzz, Nicole admitted she didn’t realise how intense the role would be before signing up for the project.

‘I am actually glad I didn’t realise, as it is with anything in life it is better not to know ahead of time what you are going into,’ the star said.

In fact, Nicole confessed that accepting roles ‘without thinking it through’ is something she does often.

‘I think I have a screw loose where I am not able to go, ‘yikes, be careful’. I don’t have that, that is not part of my makeup,’ she admitted, likening her ‘ridiculous’ decision-making skills to that of a ‘teenager’.

Nicole only jetted back into her native Australia last week ahead of the premiere of the film in Sydney.

Appearing at the Deadline Contenders Film event in Los Angeles last month, Nicole admitted she was apprehensive about taking on the role of such a beloved and iconic figure.

‘I had massive trepidation about a month prior, and [director] Aaron [Sorkin] had to get on the phone and send me emails saying, ‘You’ve got this,” she said, as reported by Variety.

During press interviews for the film earlier this month Nicole revealed she agreed to play the role after being asked by Aaron Sorkin over Zoom.

‘Yes, I would love to do anything with you,’ Nicole remembered replying while speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Nicole also said once she started to study Lucille that she loved playing her because she was such a physical comedian.

‘You are one of the best actors that ever lived,’ Jimmy told her. ‘You are amazing in every single thing.’

‘I love acting,’ said Nicole. ‘I’m very privileged to be able to do what I love doing.’
