‘It’s empowering not emasculating’: Myleene Klass, 44, praises ‘ballsy’ fiancé Simon Motson, 47, after he undergoes a vasectomy to ‘give her body a rest’ after four miscarriages

Myleene Klass has praised her fiancé Simon Motson for undergoing a vasectomy in order to ‘give her a body a break’ after four heartbreaking miscarriages.
The couple tragically lost four children before welcoming rainbow baby Apollo in 2019, with Myleene detailing the toll it took on her physically as well as mentally.
In order to prevent any further pregnancies without Myleene having to take birth control, Simon underwent the reversible surgical procedure.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Myleene explained: ‘If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know about my story to get my rainbow baby Apollo and the four heartbreaking miscarriages I suffered before I finally got to hold him in my arms.
‘The amount of drugs, the toll it took on my body, my head and my heart, the after effects, it’s a lot on the woman and men often admit to feeling helpless.
‘Whilst Child birth is undeniably all on the woman, birth control should be on both parties. My doctor said my body needed a rest, so..’
She then cut to a clip of Simon hobbling out of a clinic after undergoing a vasectomy as Myleene quipped: ‘Guess what I got for Christmas.’

Myleene mused: ‘Putting this here for the menfolk to see that it’s empowering not emasculating to do this for your partner and we respect you all the more for it’
She continued: ‘He said my body had been through enough so it was HIS turn to do his bit. Fair play. Loads of my friends have confided their husbands would never do this for them despite not planning more kids.
‘I put my body through so much to get our son and stay pregnant. the drugs play havoc with you, even the birth control ones so now I get to give my body a rest.
‘Huge respect for being ballsy enough to do this for us. Some men just get it. Love him so much.’
A vasectomy is a surgical procedure to cut or seal the tubes that carry a man’s sperm to permanently prevent pregnancy.
It’s usually carried out under local anaesthetic, where you’re awake but don’t feel any pain, and takes about 15 minutes.
What is a vasectomy?
Vasectomy is a procedure that stops sperm from entering the semen supply.
As a result, a man’s ejaculate will not contain the substance that allows it to impregnate a woman, making him infertile.
The procedure snips the tube that carries a man’s sperm into its semen.
It is a relatively low risk procedure and a man who receives one will usually recover within a matter of days.
While the procedure is reversible, experts consider it to be a permanent form of birth control.
Only around 90 per cent of men who want to reverse their vasectomy will be able to successfully do so.
In rare cases, you may have a general anaesthetic, where you’re asleep during the operation.
Myleene later added: ‘My stories have blown up so putting this here for the menfolk to see that it’s empowering not emasculating to do this for your partner and we respect you all the more for it.
‘The drugs I took to keep our son after losing four babies and the toll it took on my body followed by further birth control, it’s such a lot. It can’t all be on the woman.
‘In Sim’s words, “You’ve done your bit’ now it’s my turn.”
‘Before he went in, I cried as it felt ‘final’ (it’s actually reversible) and then I felt admiration and like I’m in a real, grown up partnership.
‘Love him so much. Not all hero’s wear capes. Some wear a dressing and tight pants for two days.’
It was last October when Myleene first revealed she had suffered four miscarriages before giving birth to her ‘rainbow baby’ son Apollo.
She told how she is a ‘mama to seven babies’ – including ‘four little stars in the sky’ – as she took to Instagram to share her experience on National Baby Loss Miscarriage Day.
While Myleene could fall pregnant, there was ‘no explanation’ for why she couldn’t carry her babies to term, so when she was expecting Apollo, doctors ‘took no chances’ and gave her ‘countless, endless hormones’ to keep the placenta working.
Myleene is also mother to two daughters, Ava, 14, and Hero, 11 – who she shares with ex-husband Graham Quinn.
