My Name Is Earl actor Ethan Suplee has astonished fans after transforming himself from flabby to fabulous after spending hours a day cycling and hitting the gym.
The 43-year-old American actor is best known for his role as Randy Hickey in the brutally cancelled comedy show My Name Is Earl (which ended with an unresolved cliff-hanger at the end of season 4 in 2009) – but is now unrecognisable following a body overhaul.
Ethan (who has also starred in big screen movies American History X and Remember the Titans) has been hailed as an inspiration after getting into incredible shape.
His fitness kick almost cost him work – as casting directors were used to seeing him in a fuller form, and were gobsmacked when he turned up to auditions after shedding the pounds.
"Initially, the casting directors didn't want me to come in because I'd lost a bunch of weight. Apparently they had proposed me a bunch of times, but the casting directors were like, 'No, he's too thin now’,” he told Entertainment Weekly in 2017.
His slimmer fram is all down to a downturn in fortunes in terms of work – as he became a fitness fanatic after the abrupt end of My Name Is Earl more than ten years ago.
"After My Name Is Earl, I started obsessively riding bicycles. I actually did get properly thin at one point – I was nine percent body fat. But I was also riding a bicycle six to eight hours a day, six days. After two years of that, my wife said, 'Hey, idiot, you can't retire and ride bicycles. You have to go get a job’,” he said.
"So then [when I started looking for work], I found that people were like, 'Who are you? We don't know you. You're this new person.' So a couple years ago I made the decision: I'm not going to kill myself to be thin when nobody knows me as a thin person, and I do think it is affecting the kind of jobs I'm getting,” he went on.
His new muscular look has proved a hit with fans – who have been flooding the comments section of his Instagram posts with gushing notes of approval.
“Hell yeah dude!! Look at you, you monster!!! Mad props to your progress as well as thanks for your work on screen,” one fan wrote.
“Dude I can’t believe your transformation congrats man! Loved you in Remember The Titans!” gushed another.
A further fan typed: “What an inspiration you are and congrats on your transformation.”
While another wrote: “mate Iv been struggling with my weight for years! Can’t believe what you’ve done! Gives me a boost knowing it can be done!”
