Montana Brown has issued a stark warning to Love Island hopefuls regarding the perils of fame and appearing on the show. 

The reality star, 24, spoke candidly to former TOWIE star and Tings Magazine founder Vas J Morgan for his I Am Enough campaign, in which he speaks to stars about battles with mental health and people coping with isolation. 

After finding fame on the show in 2017, Montana urged followers not to expect instant fame and to be careful with the money that comes out of the show, as she insisted: ‘You could end up working in Wilko or Costa Coffee’.

Joining stars including Sofia Richie, Lauren Pope and Chloe Sims in chatting to Vas, Montana was opening up about her struggles in the spotlight.

When Vas asked what she would tell Love Island hopefuls, she said: ‘The key is, I get asked this a lot, to say if you go on that show yes you might be super famous and you might make millions doing fashion deals. But you also might not…

‘It might last for six months and you have to go back to your day job.’

She admitted hopefuls must go in with their eyes open rather than planning to merely become famous and net the riches.

She went on: ‘Don’t go on the show to be famous because it won’t last. It might last six months, it might last a year or it might not… 

‘You might have to work in Wilkinson’s or Costa Coffee. You have to have a level head you have to think what can I fall back on.

Have a game plan. Think: I’ll launch a business before I go in, promote it on then the show and have it waiting on the outside.’

On unhappiness coming with the show, Montana said: ‘The reason people are so unhappy is because what happens when you leave…

‘I spent so much money on a car when I left because you think “Yes I’m rich! I’m a millionaire and this will last forever!”… 

‘After the first year you don’t make that much money but you still have the pressure to look like youy have the flash car and go on the holiday…

‘That lifestyle is unattainable and you get swept away adn think youre invincible and rich. people need to save for the future, be realistic and save for the future.’

Montana admitted she realised her behaviour was wrong when she left the villa.  

She said: ‘After Love Island I was so self-absorbed. I was a self-absorbed bitch. I thought oh my god I’m such a b***h. I thought I was so ungrateful.
