‘It’s not just okay to not aspire to parenthood – it is your human right’ she wrote in response.

‘When they tell me that a child-free life means I’m not fulfilling my ‘duty as a woman’, I tell them that my value isn’t conditional on whether I birth someone else, and my only duty is to myself.’

She continued: ‘And when people threaten me with fear of loneliness in my latter years, I tell them that I fear their decision to have kids just so they have someone by their side when they’re old and ailing.

‘I say we stop asking those who are assigned female at birth when they’re going to hit these milestones, and start asking what they want to do with their big, powerful lives’ Maria added.

When a fan asked about her decision to remain childless, the model and influencer, said she finds fulfillment in her career and has much more she wants to accomplish.

She went on to tell her Instagram followers that children ‘deserve the very best’ and she would ‘hate to bring someone else into the world’ knowing she’s not ready to provide for them.

‘It’s not just okay to not aspire to parenthood – it is your human right’ she wrote

‘I just don’t feel the drive yet, nor the motivation. I have a lot that I want to do/try/achieve professionally that requires me to prioritise career stuff,’ she said.

‘What fulfills us differs from person to person and that’s okay – and my career is what fulfills me. I also have a lot of personal/past trauma I want to work through.

‘This is just for me so that I can have a happy, healthy life – and I can’t see myself changing my mind about kids until I do this.’

She went on to say children deserve ‘to be seen as individuals coming ‘through’ their parents, not belonging to them’.

‘They don’t deserve to be born out of pressure. And they aren’t a fix for the problems in one’s life, that’s so much responsibility for a little one to bear,’ she said.

‘They deserve to be raised by parents who can unselfishly raise them. I really would hate to bring someone else into the world, and not be able to provide emotionally, or project my own unhealed stuff onto them.’
