Michael Jackson’s Thriller Headed To IMAX

Michael Jackson‘s estate has teamed with IMAX to digitally remaster Thriller and bring the classic video to IMAX 3D theaters. The 14-minute short film will head to the big screen for a limited, week-long run, beginning on September 21.

Earlier this week, an appeals court has cleared a long-standing fake vocal lawsuit against the estate of the late king of pop Michael Jackson and Sony Music. The lawsuit alleged that three songs on a posthumous Jackson album did not feature the late singer’s vocals.

On Tuesday, three appeals court judges ruled in the favor of the Jackson estate and Sony, thus removing both the two parties from the class-action suit, which was filed in 2014 by Jackson fan Vera Serova. The court ruled that because the estate and Sony did not know for certain whether Jackson sang on the three songs, the album’s cover and promotional materials were not strictly commercial speech, and thus were not applicable for charges, Variety reports.

Last week, Sony had to issue a statement denying claims that the studio admitted Jackson did not sing on the three songs in question, which all featured on the 2010 album Michael.

“We had a total victory in the appellate court in the Vera Serova Class Action matter,” said Howard Weitzman, an attorney for the estate, in a statement.
