Meghan Markle's Pregnancy News Arrives 5 Months After Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially announced today that they’re expecting their first child together. The news arrives almost five months after they officially married on May 19, 2018.

Meghan is currently 12 weeks along, and the baby is due in spring 2019. It’s possible she’ll give birth shortly ahead of her and Harry’s one-year wedding anniversary, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter points out.

The Duchess of Sussex wouldn’t be the first royal mom to do so. The Queen apparently gave birth to Prince Charles on November 14, 1948, just days ahead of her first anniversary with husband Prince Philip on November 20.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Harry and Meghan’s wedding was arguably the biggest ceremony of the year, which boasted 29 million viewers, per Nielsen, and cost an estimated $45 million.

Celebrities including George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Idris Elba, Elton John, Serena Williams, and Priyanka Chopra attended the ceremony. Royals including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also in attendance.

The adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte were in the bridal party, but their youngest sibling, Prince Louis, was missing in action, as he was just weeks old by the time of the wedding.

The bride’s mom, Doria Ragland, was her only family member to attend the ceremony. Her father was originally scheduled to walk her down the aisle, but he couldn’t attend due to heart surgery. Her father-in-law, Prince Charles, stepped in on the wedding day.

Meghan wore a custom boatneck wedding gown by Givenchy Haute Couture for the ceremony, followed by a high-neck, sleeveless Stella McCartney gown for the evening reception, which was held at Frogmore House. Her engagement ring featured two diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection.

Harry and Meghan’s engagement was announced almost a year ago. Prince Charles made it official with a statement on November 27, 2017, that read:
