Meghan Markle says she’s made ‘active effort to forgive’ Royal Family amid rift

Meghan Markle says she has made "an active effort" to forgive the Royal Family amid the rift in their relationship.

In her first magazine interview since she and Prince Harry quit the family and moved to California, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, spoke about their life in Montecito, their two children and her time as a working royal.

The former actress also revealed she's never signed anything that prevents her from speaking about her time in the royal family but has chosen not to as she is "still healing".

Meghan touched on the possibility of forgiveness between her and her royal in-laws and her own family.

She told The Cut: "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive.

"But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything."

Meghan added: "I have a lot to say until I don’t… Sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song."

The bombshell interview covers a wide range of topics including Harry speaking to her on the "loss" of his father Prince Charles and her plans to re-join social media after previously being forced to close her personal accounts after becoming a royal.

It comes amid reports the Sussexes are "unlikely" to see the Queen in Balmoral, where she is in Scotland, during their trip to the UK in September for charity events.

The Duke and Duchess are said to be travelling to Manchester on September 5 for One Young World Summit where Meghan will give a keynote address at the opening ceremony.

They will then head to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event before returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards on 8 September.

Meghan recently launched her Spotify podcast Archetypes, which is said to be causing concern at Buckingham Palace over what she could potentially discuss.

Leading royal author Duncan Larcombe has warned it could be "even more damaging" than Meghan's infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess already took a swipe at the royal family in the first episode of her podcast, which was released on 23 August and featured tennis legend Serena Williams.

Meghan's half-sister Samantha Markle has slammed the new podcast, describing it as "odd" and saying it sounds like a "seductive commercial" because of the "breathy" way her sibling speaks on it.
