Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's New Dog Has the Most Adorable and Unusual Name

It was recently reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had adopted a rescue dog, and now it’s finally been revealed that the pup apparently has an unusual name.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan and Harry’s new dog is called Oz. The publication cites royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith as the source for this news. The Daily Mail also speculates about the meaning behind the name, suggesting that the royals may have coined the moniker ahead of their first royal tour, which will take them to Australia, or Oz as it’s sometimes known.

While we’re yet to see any photos of black Labrador Oz, it sounds as though the dog is settling in at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, along with Meghan’s dog Guy, a Beagle that she brought over from Canada with her when she moved.

Before she deactivated her social media presence, Meghan regularly posted photos of her dogs. Alongside Guy who she still owns, Meghan had another rescue dog while she lived in Toronto called Bogart. However, it’s believed that Bogart was too old to make the journey over to the United Kingdom ahead of the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding to Prince Harry earlier this year. As such, Bogart stayed behind in Toronto with friends.

Even though one of her dogs didn’t make it over to England with her, Guy appears to have settled in nicely, even scoring an invite to Meghan and Harry’s wedding back in May, and riding in a car alongside Queen Elizabeth herself. So regal.
