Socialite and model Lady Victoria Hervey, 44, has claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage “won’t last”, attributing it to their “too short” courtship period. The former flame of Prince Andrew has weighed in with her thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship, which saw them marry less than two years after meeting.
I just don’t see it lasting
Addressing the future of the couple’s relationship, Victoria revealed that she thinks the early “courtship” phase wasn’t long enough.
She said: “I think Harry and Meghan’s courtship was way too short.
“I just don’t see it lasting,” she candidly told Closer magazine.
Speaking about their wedding day in 2018, the socialite correctly predicted the couple’s move to America.
“I remember just before their wedding, I thought, ‘They’ll get married, have a few kids… And she will end up wanting to be in America’,” she said.
The star went on to compare their marriage to that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who she says formed a solid foundation before their big day.
Speaking about the formative days of Meghan and Harry’s relationship, the model said: “They were always travelling somewhere.”
She added that she believes the couple have ultimately “moved too fast”.
Victoria continued: “That’s why Kate Middleton and Prince William’s relationship is so successful – they were together for such a long time before getting married.”
William and Kate had known each other for nearly a decade before becoming engaged in 2010, as they had met while at St Andrews University.
Following their wedding in 2018, Harry and Meghan announced that they were stepping away from royal duties in 2020.
They have since then made a home for themselves and son Archie in Santa Barbara, California.
In March this year the couple sat down with US media mogul Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all exclusive interview in which Meghan claimed her mental health suffered as a result of being part of the Royal Family.
During the early stages of their relationship Meghan lived in Toronto, Canada, while Harry was in London and the couple enjoyed international travel to be with each other.
In early 2017 Harry took Meghan on a romantic break to see the Northern Lights in Norway.
Months later, in August 2017, a year after meeting, Harry took Meghan away on a South African safari for her 36th birthday.
The move caused much speculation as his brother William proposed to wife Kate on a trip to Kenya in 2010.
A month after the South African trip, Meghan and Harry made their first official public appearance together in Toronto at the Invictus Games
In November 2017 Meghan made the move to the UK to be with her fiance and six months later they married at Windsor Castle.
On Valentines Day 2021 the couple confirmed that they are expecting their second child, a girl, in the summer.
