Just weeks to go before the arrival of Archie’s younger sister, some potential baby names the Duke and Duchess of Sussex favored in the past have resurfaced.
AceShowbiz –Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting closer to welcoming their baby daughter. While the expecting couple has yet to reveal the name of their soon-to-be-born second child, it’s revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously expressed their interest in some baby girl monikers.
In 2019, back when the couple was awaiting the birth of son Archie, PEOPLE reported that they heard name suggestions from a group of children in the town of Birkenhead. At the time, a 7-year-old Megan Dudley spilled that the Duchess liked the name Amy for a girl. The little girl revealed, “I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl, and she said, ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it.’ “
During the same trip, Harry also appeared to be fond of the name Lily. He was said to have asked a mother who had a daughter named Lily how she spelled the name, leading people to think he was also considering the flower-inspired name.
Harry and Meghan were also pressed about baby names back in October 2018 when they visited Australia. “We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone, we’re going to sit down and have a look at them,” the 39-year-old beauty said at the time. Also in Melbourne, the pair met a fan with a baby named Harriet which later the 36-year-old father of one described as a “great name.”
The pair announced in February that their second baby is on the way. On Valentine’s Day, the happy couple announced the pregnancy with a beautiful shot of themselves, barefoot, in a garden setting, with the former actress showing off a baby bump as she lay on the grass with her head in her husband’s lap. A source spilled to Us Weekly that “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
In the following month, Harry then revealed the sex of their second child during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, gushing, “It’s a girl! Just to have a boy and a girl, what more can we ask for? We’ve got our family. We’ve got, you know, the four of us and our two dogs, and it’s great.” Meghan, who sat next to her husband, chimed in with the baby’s “summer” due date, noting at the time that they would be all set with two kids.
