The vacation for Chet comes after joining his dad in Spain for the premiere of Toy Story 4.

The Empire star seemed to be soaking in the sun while relaxing with his friends with a cold drink in his hands the entire time.

He’s been open about his past struggles with addiction and admitted he’s struggled since he was 16 years old.

He shared on Instagram in 2015 that he had hit his breaking point and would be going to rehab.

‘A couple months ago I was selling coke [and] doing coke until I couldn’t even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged. I even smoked crack,’ he said.

‘I just really had to take a look at myself and my life and the way s**t was going and all the crazy stupid s**t I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn’t working.’

Chet said his parents supported him every step of the way during his recovery while on The Red Pill Podcast with Van Lathan in October 2018.

‘I love my parents so, so much,’ he said on the show. ‘They did a really, really good job raising me. Good dad, good mom, period. Great dad, great mom. I’m extremely blessed just to have great parents.’

Meanwhile, the actor was joined by his wife Camila Alves and their three children, Levi, 10, Vida, aged nine, and Livingston, aged six.

Just days before their vacation the couple spoke about their home in Austin, Texas and the foundation they both started together, the Just Keep Living Foundation. The foundation aims at helping high school students be successful by giving them the means to do so.

The couple mainly resides in Austin and despite the city changing rapidly, ‘nobody’s too good and everybody’s good enough,’ McConaughey said in a video with his wife.

‘Now, with our massive growth, we’re more than just a university town and a government town,’ he shared in the video.

‘We’re a tech town, we’re a business town, we’re a banking town and we’re a congested traffic town – but we don’t honk horns!’
