Maroon 5 Officially Announced For Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show

The NFL has officially confirmed that Maroon 5 will play at the halftime of this year’s Super Bowl LIII.

“Sicko Mode” rapper Travis Scott and Big Boi will also perform alongside Maroon 5 during the Super Bowl halftime show. The 2019 Super Bowl will take place on February 3 at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Maroon 5 and Scott will follow 2018 halftime performer Justin Timberlake, while other recent artists to headline the halftime show include Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé.

Several A-list artists, including Rihanna, Adele, JAY-Z, P!nk, and Cardi B, reportedly rejected the invitation to perform at halftime to show their support with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kaepernick created controversy in 2016 after he started kneeling during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality in the U.S.

Billboard reports that Scott has asked the NFL to make a joint donation to an organization fighting for social justice in order for him to perform at the event.
