The Ally McBeal actress allegedly stunned staff on the hit talk show when she said Sherri used to be a ‘big woman’ before losing 35lbs, and then placed her hands in front of her body and blew out her cheeks in a bid to imitate her former size.

Marlo said: ‘I interviewed you for my AOL show [‘Monday’s with Marlo’] and you used to be a big woman!

‘You’ve lost a lot of weight, but you’ve still got the boobies! That’s good.’

Sherri took the jibes in good humor, bursting out in laughter and going to sit next to the actress.

However it was claimed that staffers felt Marlo’s comments were a ‘slap in the face’ and had words with the star.

A source told the publication staffers were ‘very vocal’ to Marlo, saying: ‘She works really hard at creating a very positive environment. Morale [at work] is everything to her, so people sort of went into mama bear mode.

‘Sherri was a good sport, but people [at the show] are very protective of her,” our insider shared.

One fan wrote on Twitter: @MarloThomas Ms. Thomas, why did you feel the need to do an impression of “heavy Sherri Shepherd”? It was uncomfortable to watch. I had so much respect for you. How many of St. Jude’s donors were offended? You are too intelligent and inherently good to have done that. Shameful!

One viewer said Thomas: ‘just acted like those elders in the church. Just saying stuff that would offend if she were your peer, but you roll with it ’cause she’s an elder!

‘You can say whatever you want after 84 trips around the sun’ with the talk show account responding with laughing emojis.

Sherri had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in 2007 which she later said ‘changed her life,’ but only began taking her health more seriously in 2018, years after enduring two very messy custody battles over her two kids.

Since starting her health journey in 2018 she has amassed a weight loss of nearly 55 pounds.

During lockdown she had set a goal to lose 15 pounds, but by April she had already beat that goal by 5lbs — revealing that she weighed less than 150 pounds.

The Emmy-winner had also spoken about being accountable to her son Jeffrey, 17, — who has special needs — as she wrote that she wants to be ‘healthy and whole’ for him.
