Mark Labbett and Anne Hegerty hit back at claim ‘they’ve no clue how to wear a seatbelt’

The Chasers Road Trip: Anne, Mark and Shaun discuss school

Chasers Mark Labbett and Anne Hegerty are currently starring in ITV show The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles with their ITV co-star Shaun Wallace. The trio can be seen travelling the world to test their intelligence.

However, the latest instalment of the program sparked some concerns from fans.

One Twitter user was not impressed with the way they were wearing their safety belts, while driving from one location to the next.

Anne spoke out about the matter on the micro-blogging site, pointing out that they were wearing mic packs on their person when filming.

Mark, the 55-year-old quizzer known as “The Beast” on the ITV game show, also responded to the message.

“@anne_hegerty and @MarkLabbett may be intelligent, but they have no clue how to wear a seat belt,” one person wrote online, after watching the latest episode.

“Decapitation for Anne and crushed chest and punctured lungs for Mark, should they be unlucky enough to be involved in a collision. #NotClever!” the message continued with a shocking warning to the stars of the show.

“Producers INSISTED we sat that way because it made for ‘better telly’,” Mark hit back.

“Also the seatbelts needed not to interfere with the placement of the radio mikes,” Anne added.

“I’m loving the programme Anne! Last week’s was amazing!!” a more positive person wrote in the comments section of the post.

“Really enjoyable. Thank you for the escapism,” another added.

Anne also addressed her “diva strop” in the latest instalment.

The Chasers were not impressed at all when they were taken to campsite on a farm, for a spot of glamping.

“So, it’s quite possible that the campsite was actually extremely nice (I have since been told that it was),” Anne’s tweet began, in view of her 148,100 followers.

“However, we had been promised a) a hotel, b) no more surprises. Ergo diva strop,” the 62-year-old explained.

The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles continues Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
