Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Self-Care Routine Included Getting High in Bathtubs

The final season of Game of Thrones is still a million days away (what is the “first half of 2019” anyway), but that doesn’t mean the world has stopped talking about Game of Thrones. In fact, two of its stars talked about it plenty at New York Comic Con 2018 this past weekend: onscreen sisters and real-life BFFs Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner.

Per Vulture, the actresses opened up about what it was like to film the final episodes as Arya and Sansa Stark and frankly, you might be jealous you weren’t an extra on set to witness some of their antics. “We’re kind of like loners of Game of Thrones, just because the past few seasons Maisie and I have sleepovers every night when we’re sleeping,” Sophie, aka the future Mrs. Joe Jonas said. “We just used to sit there and eat and watch stupid videos and smoke weed.”

At this point, the little voice (ahem, a publicist) in the back of any actor or actress’ head would usually say, Say no more or Enough or channel Uncle Joey and say, Cut it out, but like Sansa, Sophie DGAF and continued with her story. “I don’t know if my publicist will kill me for saying this. We’d get high and then we’d sit in the bath together and we’d rub makeup brushes on our faces. It’s fun.”

While you spend some time pondering why you and your friends don’t have hangouts in bathtubs, or simply the logistics of hanging out in an actual bathtub (think of all the back pain and slippery moments), the ladies also dished on season eight. Kind of. “The secrecy is crazy. We have a whole different name for it when we’re shooting,” according to Sophie. “I think this season it was like the ‘Tree of Life’ or something.” She added that on top of changing the talent names on scripts and call sheets, HBO had a “drone killer” on set, which is pretty much self-explanatory. “It don’t know how it does it. It creates this field around and the drones just drop.” If Game of Thrones ever comes back as a futuristic spinoff series, the “drone killer” storyline is a great place to start.
