Lynne Spears claims ex-husband threatened Britney with 'punishment'

‘He’s incapable of putting her interests ahead of his own’: Britney Spears’ mum Lynne blasts ‘coercive’ ex Jamie and throws support behind the singer in conservatorship court battle

  • Earlier this month, the Toxic singer, 39, gave an emotional court testimony in which she pleaded to be released from an 13-year-long conservatorship
  • In a new court filing obtained by E! News, Lynne spoke of her involvement in the conservatorship and detailed her ex’s alleged ‘coercion’ and ‘bartering’
  • In her words, she stated: ‘He is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level’

Britney Spears’ mum Lynne, 66, has claimed that the singer has felt ‘nothing but fear and hatred’ towards her father Jamie Spears, 69, since he took ‘complete control’ over her life as part of the legal arrangement.

Earlier this month, the Circus singer, 39, gave an emotional court testimony in which she pleaded to be released from an 13-year-long conservatorship, where her father has control over her whole personal life and financial affairs.

The conservatorship that Britney is under is ordinarily used in situations where older, perhaps senile people, can no longer look after their own affairs.

In a new court filing obtained by E! News, Lynne spoke of her involvement in the conservatorship and detailed her ex’s alleged ‘coercion’ and ‘bartering’ with her daughter ‘over what she can and cannot do for various rewards or punishments’.

She stated: ‘He is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level’ and for him to carry on to be her co-conservator is ‘not in the best interests of my daughter’.

The new documents show that Britney has offered to testify while Lynne’s words were exposed in the new details of the case.

Lynne’s statement began: ‘I became involved in this conservatorship during what I will term a “time of crisis” that began at the end of 2018 and continued into 2019.’

Britney’s finances – including her $57million estate – and healthcare have been controlled by her dad since 2008.

Lynne detailed her ex-husband’s alleged ‘coercion’ and ‘bartering’ with her daughter ‘over what she can and cannot do for various rewards or punishments’.

Furthermore, his ‘constant threats and his decision-making over all aspects of her life’ have destroyed their relationship.

Going on to reference an alleged ‘altercation’ between her ex and Britney’s sons Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden, 11, she described the incident as ‘appalling and inexcusable’.

She appeared to be alluding to the time Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline, 43, was granted a restraining order against Jamie in 2019 after the rapper alleged there had been an altercation between Sean Preston and his grandfather.

Lynne also spoke of Jamie allegedly hiring a ‘sports enhancement doctor’ to prescribe medication his daughter did not wish to take, which she branded ‘entirely inappropriate’.

She added: ‘I witnessed my daughter be compelled by that doctor, with the knowledge and encouragement of Mr. Spears, to enter a health facility that she did not want to enter, where she was threatened with punishment if she did not stay for medical treatment that she did not want to endure.’

Lynne concluded that her former spouse is ‘incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level’ and for him to carry on to be her co-conservator is ‘not in the best interests of my daughter’.

It comes after the Gimme More hitmaker reportedly called 911 in Ventura County, California to report herself a victim of conservatorship abuse the night before her bombshell hearing.

The actual recording is sealed because of an ongoing investigation, but two sources – a person close to Spears and a law enforcement official – confirmed the call to The New Yorker.

MailOnline has contacted Britney Spears’ representatives for comment.
