Lucy Spraggan flaunts her washboard abs and slams ‘life threatening fad diets’ as she shares before and after shots from her fitness journey

She’s a fitness fanatic who is vocal about body positivity on her social media pages.

And Lucy Spraggan has shared before and after comparison shots on her Instagram account on Sunday while reflecting on her fitness journey, which has seen her drop three dress sizes.

The former X Factor star, 29, could be seen in the first snap, taken in 2018, posing in a green sports bra and black Nike leggings while she took a mirror selfie to document her progress.

The second picture saw her lifting up her white t-shirt to reveal her washboard abs and muscular frame as she smiled at the camera for the selfie.

In a caption alongside her snaps, Lucy revealed she had already lost ‘quite a bit of body fat’ in 2018 due to fad diets, which she slammed as ‘experimental, inconsistent’ and ‘actually life threatening’.

The singer went on to candidly speak about the ‘slog’ of her ‘exhausting’ fitness journey, revealing that one of the ‘hardest parts’ was waiting for the ‘slow and tiny’ changes.

She explained: ‘Found the pic on the left whilst scrolling through some old photos and it gave me some feelings! Good ones!

Fads: In a caption, Lucy revealed she had already lost ‘quite a bit of body fat’ in 2018 due to fad diets, which she slammed as ‘experimental, inconsistent’ and ‘actually life threatening’

‘I’d already started my journey to a different body composition here but I didn’t really know it.

‘I’d already lost quite a bit of body fat (left picture is from 2018) through various experimental and inconsistent (one actually life threatening! ☠️) FAD diets and I was noticing really small changes that I don’t think anyone else would have been able to see.

‘And that is one of the hardest parts of working hard = tiny, weeny, subtle changes.

‘When I look at the left picture in contrast to the right I can SEE the change, it’s a huge reward to know that I did that, it feels great!

‘But on almost every other part of this slog it’s been exhausting at times because results are so SLOW and tiny.

‘But that is the truth of it. That’s the bare bones of anything worth doing in life.

‘We keep plugging at it, we keep pushing, we have to accept that to eventually notice that HUGE change we have to chip away at the rock bit by bit until you seen see the first sparkle of that lil diamond.’

The TV personality then compared her fitness journey to her music career, pledging to ‘double’ the 37,000 tickets she sold in the UK last year ‘when the world is back on track’.

She continued: ‘7 years ago I was playing to crowds of 200 every night. Last year we sold 37,000 tickets just in the UK.

‘When the world is back on track, I’ll double that. I’ve done it before!

‘I will keep digging, in everything I do. Work, life, love, family… everything.

So that eventually I can look back and say: I did that.

‘Happy Sunday. Keep digging.’

Lucy completely changed her lifestyle this year after splitting from her ex-wife Georgina Gordon, getting into fitness and later taking up running during lockdown.

Speaking on FUBAR Radio in October, she explained that she ‘lost a bit of weight and had a divorce’ and then ‘rediscovered herself’, helping with her confidence.

Lucy told hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Access All Areas that she hasn’t always felt confident but getting healthy has helped change her mindset and inspired her to write new song Flower.

She said: ‘I’ve never felt sexy in my life. I’ve never felt attractive or in tune with myself in that way. And I kind of like, found myself experiencing that and I really wanted to make a song that was a bit like, yeah, this is how I feel! This is sexy!’

Lucy split from her wife Georgina in November 2019, after six years together and fostering 12 children while they underwent fertility treatment.

But in September, the media personality revealed she is now dating a ‘hot gal’ during an interview on FUBAR Radio.

The musician said: ‘I’ve been seeing her for a bit. I’ve been very open about my life, like a lot about my life my whole life, and this time I’m a bit like, do you know what, I’m going to keep some stuff for myself.’
