Heartbreak: Love Island’s Amy has been offered psychological support after viewers urged producers to step in following her heartbreak over partner Curtis’ wandering eye

A spokesman for the hit ITV2 show said psychological support was on-hand for any of the Islanders at any time 24/7, particularly if they were upset or appeared to be struggling with life in the villa.

They told MailOnline: ‘We take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.

‘We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.

‘All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on site and by their friends in the villa.

Devastated: The air hostess, 26, was left in tears after her ‘half-boyfriend’ Curtis admitted his head had been turned by new girl Jourdan during her fleeting visit to Casa Amor

‘This means Islanders are always able to reach out and talk to someone if they feel the need.

‘We will of course continue to monitor all of our Islanders in line with our robust protocols.

‘Love Island holds a mirror up to relationships and all the different dynamics that go with them.’

Since the dramatic recoupling, Ofcom has received nearly 200 complaints.

The broadcasting regulator said it had 196 complaints about Wednesday’s instalment of the programme, relating to the fallout from the dramatic recoupling.

An Ofcom spokeswoman said: ‘We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.’

It comes as Gemma Collins said she is ‘not really into ‘Love Island’ because she worries about the Islanders’ emotional state.

The star, 38,  is no stranger to reality TV but admits she is ‘one of the lucky ones’ because she can ‘cope’ with being in the public eye, but she fears for the current batch of contestants in the villa.

Concerned: Meanwhile, Gemma Collins is ‘not really into ‘Love Island’ because she worries about the Islanders’ emotional state she said at the Heart Dance on Wednesday

Speaking at the Heart Dance launch event, she said: ‘I’m only watching ‘Love Island’ because of Tommy Fury.

‘I’m a big fan of his brother the boxer but literally, yeah, to be honest, I’m not really into ‘Love Island’ just because I think you know I do watch the show, I love it, like everyone else, but you know, some of the games they play on there that are set up for them to do, I just feel that it could be a little bit tough on them to be honest.

‘I worry about them because you know I’ve been in the reality realm myself and I have been one of the lucky ones that can cope with it. But, yeah, some of the things I see that they have to do on there, I’m little bit like, “These are people’s emotions guys”.’

A spokesman said: ‘We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset’

Back in May, Love Island revealed details of their overhauled aftercare following backlash from former contestants following the tragic deaths of Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Producers will offer extensive care before, during and after the reality show, including increased therapy, social media training and even financial management.

It comes after calls for it to be axed like The Jeremy Kyle Show, following the death of Steve Dymond who died from suspected suicide days after failing a lie detector test

Love Island have vowed they will work with GPs and psychological consultants to ensure hopeful contestants’ mental health are strong enough to take part.

A Love Island spokesperson told The Sun: ‘The medical team also contacts each Islander’s GP to check they feel that person is able to take part.’

Shock admission: This comes after Curtis broke Amy’s heart when he revealed to her that he had been having doubts about their relationship and felt like he had been ‘lying’ to himself

During filming, there is also a medical team who can be talked with at any time, and who monitor contestants to ensure they do not develop problems inside the villa.

When it comes to aftercare, Love Island ensure they give contestants a debrief on location with a psychological consultant.

Islanders are also given advice on adjusting to fame, and meet with a press team who go over any media coverage they had while on the show.

Producers also make sure each contestant has access to any other aftercare support if they need it, according to the publication.

Gutted: Although Amy initially put on a brave face during the exchange, she later admitted that she felt ‘numb’ at the time, before launching into a furious tirade at Curtis

Following the death of Sophie Gradon, who hanged herself at her family home last year, and Mike Thalassitis, 26, who also committed suicide, Love Island contacted experienced physician and Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Litchfield.

He independently reviewed the medical procedure the ITV show had in place to offer regular therapy to all contestants and not just the ones who reached out.

Now Islanders will be given social media training and financial management to help adjust to fame.

On Wednesday’s show, Curtis broke Amy’s heart when he revealed to her that he had been having doubts about their relationship and felt like he had been ‘lying’ to himself.

Although Amy initially put on a brave face during the exchange, she later admitted that she felt ‘numb’ at the time, before launching into a furious tirade at Curtis.

Amy told the professional dancer that she had returned to the villa to tell him that she felt like she was in love with him, before later breaking down to the girls.

Viewers appeared to be struggling to watch the dramatic scenes, and took to Twitter to beg producers to step in and check on Amy’s mental health.

One concerned viewer penned: ‘Poor Amy, I worry for her mental health after being made to feel so worthless. Hope the team keep a close eye on her. I cried as this just broke my heart #loveisland.’

Another, who was also worried about Curtis, wrote: ‘Genuinely concerned for Amy and Curtis’ mental health in the Villa, this is where the producers need to step in, we have already seen the horrific consequences from a lack of psychological support. #loveisland’

A third said: ‘Can the producers make sure Amy is okay. I am genuinely concerned for her mental health. #loveisland.’

In the privacy of the Beach Hut, Amy broke down and said: ‘I thought I’d met my first love and the one and it turns out I haven’t. I’m someone’s back up plan yet again and he disrespected me in such a way.

‘I wouldn’t have ever looked at anyone else. He was my future and now I have nothing and he’s taken that away from me.’

Amy’s worrying words came after Amy and Curtis came face-to-face during an epic showdown, as she broke down following his shock admission about Jourdan.

One concerned viewer penned: ‘Poor Amy, I worry for her mental health after being made to feel so worthless. Hope the team keep a close eye on her. I cried as this just broke my heart #loveisland’

He told her: ‘I felt everything with us was absolutely perfect and I could see a future then the new girls came into the Villa… Then I felt something and I didn’t know what. I pulled a girl for a chat, I spoke to her.’

He admitted not only did he speak to Jourdan about these feelings but he also kissed her in the challenges. Unsurprisingly, Amy is taken aback and said: ‘So she’s the Islander you fancy the most and she’s still here…’

In an attempt to reassure Amy, he replied: ‘Yes she is, she’s still here… but she’s not the one I fancy the most.’

Not impressed: Amy’s worrying words came after Amy and Curtis came face-to-face during an epic showdown, as she broke down following his shock admission about Jourdan

He told her: ‘I felt everything with us was absolutely perfect and I could see a future then the new girls came into the Villa… Then I felt something and I didn’t know what. I pulled a girl for a chat, I spoke to her’

Curtis relayed how his discussion with Jourdan went whilst Amy was in Casa Amor: ‘This is the bit you’re going to find the hardest, and I am very, very sorry that I am going to have to say this but I will not lie to you.

‘I did say ‘I like you, I think you are very attractive and good looking’ [to Jourdan] I spoke about you and said everything is perfect with you, everything’s great, I can see a future with you…

‘I don’t understand why I’m feeling this for anyone else, I was contemplating asking you to be my girlfriend. Then I said I’m not over thinking anything anymore, I’m not going with my head and I feel something and I’m so confused and I don’t understand what it is.’

Heartbroken Amy responded: ‘So she said no, so you were like ‘Oh right then go back to Ames’

He admitted that this is when he said he would recouple with Jourdan if the Recoupling was soon after that discussion, he admitted: ‘I said I would recouple with her and she said no basically.’

Heartbroken Amy responded: ‘So she said no, so you were like ‘Oh right then go back to Ames.’

Curtis told her: ‘No. I was still going to pursue her then something just clicked. I realised that I had been lying to myself, I’d been lying to everybody and worst of all I’d been lying to you…

‘Our relationship has stuff we need to work on, it really does and I’ve lied and said it hasn’t.’

Furious: He admitted not only did he speak to Jourdan about these feelings but he also kissed her in the challenges. Unsurprisingly, Amy is taken aback and said: ‘So she’s the Islander you fancy the most and she’s still here…’

‘A girl has walked in that has some of the things I’d like us to work on and this is where I felt my connection with her… I would like to work on our relationship and work on the things and make them better.’

Amy was distraught: ‘My whole life I’ve been looking for someone who accepts me for me and I truly thought I’d found that and I thought you’d found that in me so for me to sit here and listen to this I’m like… Where do I go from here? So what are these issues?’

Curtis informed her: ‘The main thing is and this is going to be the hardest thing because of what I’ve just done… trusting in the relationship.’

Honest: Curtis relayed how his discussion with Jourdan went whilst Amy was in Casa Amor: ‘This is the bit you’re going to find the hardest, and I am very, very sorry that I am going to have to say this but I will not lie to you’

‘Please do not tell me to trust in the relationship, because I did that last week and look what has happened.’

Later reflecting on his actions, Curtis said in the Beach Hut: ‘I’m upset because I’ve hurt Amy, did I know what I was doing was going to hurt Amy? Yeah, I did.’

Later, on the swing seat, Amy confided in Maura, Molly-Mae and Lucie about the situation.

‘He decided he would go with his gut, he kissed her twice and said he would recouple with her, and then asked me to trust in her relationship… I was so numb when we were talking, but I love him.’

Girl talk: Later, on the swing seat, Amy confided in Maura, Molly-Mae and Lucie about the situation

However when Amy admitted she loves Curtis, an irate Maura said: ‘He doesn’t [love you] because he wouldn’t have done that if he did. That’s harsh and I’m sorry. Do you honestly think you deserve this?’

Molly-Mae also comforted her and said: ‘It was a few days, you’re so much better than that.’

Tommy and Danny go to support him and Tommy says: ‘This whole thing has made you realise that there are things missing, no big deal. There are things missing in every relationship…

Brutal: However when Amy admitted she loves Curtis, an irate Maura said: ‘He doesn’t [love you] because he wouldn’t have done that if he did. That’s harsh and I’m sorry. Do you honestly think you deserve this?’

‘You’ve not done anything wrong it’s just made you realise there are things missing. She’s never had anything like this with a boy before she’s just scared that’s all.’

After having time to take it all in, and after having some advice from her gal pals, Amy wanted to readdress things with Curtis.

Taking control of the situation, she said: ‘Last time we spoke I felt numb but now I’ve had time to compute it. I was coming back to the Villa to tell you that I loved you.

‘I’ve been away for four days and I come back to find out that you’ve been snogging other people and telling other people you fancy them, telling them you want to re-couple with them.

You’re better than that! Molly-Mae also comforted her and said: ‘It was a few days, you’re so much better than that’

Let me get this straight! After having time to take it all in, and after having some advice from her gal pals, Amy wanted to readdress things with Curtis

‘You have zero respect for me to do that in front of my friends… I feel like I deserve better than to be basically cheated on.’

She asked him has that happened? And he responded: ‘Borderline yes…’

An irate Amy responded: ‘Do you think I deserve that? Do I deserve to worry? You’ve made me look like an utter, utter mug. From what I can see you don’t care about me.

She continued: ‘I never thought you’d do this to me, you’re the perfect man after all. You are f**king not. Do you know how worthless it makes me feel? To know you went for someone else. You can sleep on the day bed again tonight.’

Distraught: Taking control of the situation, she said: ‘Last time we spoke I felt numb but now I’ve had time to compute it. I was coming back to the Villa to tell you that I loved you’
