Yewande Biala admitted she felt ‘down and insecure’ on Love Island on Thursday night, after having her confidence knocked when no boy picked her in the coupling.

The scientist, 23, was given a pep talk by Anton Danyluk, 24, after she asked him: ‘When am I going to find love in here?’

She lamented: ‘I just feel like if someone does come in here, their first pick is probably just gonna be Lucie and Amber.’

Speaking in the Beach Hut, Anton said: ‘I noticed Yewande was a little bit down, so I wanted to cheer her up.’

Anton reassured her: ‘No it’s not. Not everyone’s type is blonde.’

To which she argued: ‘The first person that’s gonna come in here, is gonna go for what? Because they don’t know us, is gonna go for what? Off first impressions. Yeah, everyone has a type, but maybe everyone’s type isn’t in here.’

Blonde bombshell: Lucie has had Joe and Tommy fighting over her affections for the past couple of days

Anton then explained that he’s been ‘pied’ by girls  in the villa already, but knows that doesn’t mean he’s a ‘bad looking guy’.

The gym owner, 24, said: ‘I usually feel like I’m the boy back home, you know?

‘Whereas here, yeah I’ve taken a few pies. But I don’t care. I know that just because I’m not someone’s initial type doesn’t mean that I’m a bad looking guy or a bad guy or anything. And you just need to feel the same.’

Feeling unconfident: Yewande later reflected in the Beach Hut: ‘Obviously when you’re in the villa its quite easy to let your insecurities come through’

A third chimed: My heart breaks for Yewande cause she’s a f***ing 10/10 grade-A flame & the fact that she’s questioning that goes to show that its vital to cast people who at least have the capacity to be attracted to each other. The villa can be a awful place for self-confidence.’

Yewande’s scenes come after viewers complained on Twitter about her lack of airtime.

After the show’s launch, Love Island 2017’s Marcel Somerville took to Twitter to slam the show during Monday night’s launch, after the likes of Sherif and Yewande weren’t initially chosen to couple up with anyone.

Oh dear: Yewande’s scenes come after viewers complained on Twitter about her lack of airtime

The former reality star, 33, elaborated on his point in a new interview, calling for the casting process of the show to change.

The star shared that the idea of it being about skin colour is being misconstrued into a ‘colour situation’ due to the production team just casting attractive people.

Marcel said that the problem lies with the casting process not involving finding out if contestants date outside or within their race – which needs to be known for successful match making.

Talking to The Sun, the musician said: ‘They need to make sure people match up in terms of their types, they put a bunch of good looking people in there but if you’re putting people in there that won’t form connections you’re making it impossible − especially if it is a person of colour, they’re making it seem like it’s a colour situation.

Love Island continues at 9pm in ITV2.
