Doting boyfriend: Tommy is keen to reassure Molly-Mae that he doesn’t care about the revelations from the challenge

Following the explosive challenge, viewers urged the lie detector test to be brought in to expose Molly-Mae’s true motives and feelings.

One wrote: ‘Only one way to redeem yourself molly mae BRING ON THE LIE DETECTOR’, while another added: ‘Mate, Molly has been rattled & Anton is in the doghouse with his boys. Chris has shot himself the foot. We needed that challenge for small chaos, bring on the lie detector & let the whole villa shake.’

A third chimed: ‘Me waiting patiently for the baby challenge, the lie detector, (where Molly will fail on the question ‘are you in love with Tommy?’) And the parents to come in.’

The lie detector test is thought to not be included in this year’s series following the death of a Jeremy Kyle guest and the suicides of Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon.

Fuming! Following the explosive challenge, viewers urged the lie detector test to be brought in to expose Molly-Mae’s true motives and feelings

A TV source told The Sun: ‘A series of top-level meetings have been held over the past few weeks with regard to safety measures and duty of care procedures.

‘One of the issues raised was the lie detector. The feeling was, in the wake of the Jeremy Kyle case, bosses must be whiter than white — they cannot mess with people’s emotions.

‘The test they used last year was very basic — one not approved by the British Polygraph Association.

‘While nothing is set in stone and ideas change on an almost daily basis, at the moment there are no plans to bring the polygraphs back.’

It comes after viewers watched Molly-Mae was left furious by the headline revelations.

She ranted in the beach hut: ‘I’m definitely not bored. If people still think I’m fake at this point, what hope have I got?’

Love Island continues on Tuesday on ITV2 at 9pm.
