Heartbroken: Lucie Donlan, 21, was left crushed during Monday’s episode of Love Island after her crush Tommy Fury, 20, asked Molly-Mae Hague, 20, to be his girlfriend

Earlier in the episode, Tommy was seen hatching a plan with his best friend Curtis Pritchard as he geared himself up to make a huge declaration to the social media influencer.

As he and the professional dancer sat on the daybed, Tommy was seen in the video whispering to Curtis: ‘I feel that right now is the perfect time to call Molly my girlfriend.’

While Curtis squealed in delight, Tommy added: ‘This is it. This is f**king it! I’m going for it. All or nothing’.

Giving his pal some words of advice, Curtis replied: ‘Keep it chilled, keep it chilled.’

Happy: As the other islanders cheerfully congratulated the happy couple, the surfer was later seen breaking down in tears in the bathroom and was comforted by Jordan Hames, 24

Plans: As he and the professional dancer sat on the daybed, Tommy was seen in the video whispering to Curtis: ‘I feel that right now is the perfect time to call Molly my girlfriend’

Later in the beach hut, Tommy told the camera: ‘Me and Curtis had a little pump-up chat on the daybed and we said “right, let’s go for it. Now is the time”‘

The duo could then be seen acting suspiciously outside, before heading into the villa to carrying out their master plan.

Reflecting on his big moment to come, Tommy confided in the beach hut: ‘Asking Molly to be my girlfriend is single-handedly the most nervous I have ever been in my entire life!’

Tommy and Curtis then wrote a sweet note to Molly, from her stuffed elephant Ellie Belly, in which he declared his feelings.

Comfort: Spotting the blonde beauty looking distressed, Jordan pulled her in for a warm hug, with the surfer then letting the tears fall

After almost getting caught be the blonde beauty, Tommy then pulled her onto the terrace where she was greeted by her teddy and rose petals.

He then asked her to be his girlfriend, with Molly becoming overcome with emotion, while the other islanders cheered below.

However, Lucie secretly struggled with the sweet moment as she later broke down, despite seen clapping for them earlier.

Tommy and Lucie have a romantic history, with the boxer having previously liked her while she was coupled with Joe Garratt.

However, Lucie turned him down and chose to recouple with Joe.

Before Casa Amor, the surfer had laid all her cards on the table when she declared her true feelings for her pal Tommy when she took him aside for a five minute chat.

Having often dated her friends in the past, it was no wonder the blonde bombshell come to the conclusion she would like to get to know the boxer in a romantic way.

Big moment: He then asked her to be his girlfriend, with Molly becoming overcome with emotion, while the other islanders cheered below

Yet it was too late for Tommy, who was uninterested, because he had fallen head-over-heels for social influencer Molly-Mae.

Lucie confided in Tommy: ‘So I am going to put this to you as a friend, and I am going to say to you I trust you with what I am going to say that it is not going to go elsewhere because I am just going to tell you and see how you feel…

‘And you know you got to know Molly that was completely acceptable.’

She concluded: ‘So I am just going to put it out there to you that I would be open to what we had before.’

The word spread like wildfire across the villa leaving Molly-Mae fuming that her pal was trying to crack on with her boyfriend.

She exclaimed: ‘It is just f***ing embarrassing, because I am just a f***ing idiot, like I must have mug written across my forehead in capital letters.’

Love Island continues Tuesday at 9pm on ITV2.
