Love Island fans unimpressed with ‘boring’ final dates episode

Love Island fans claim ‘boring’ final dates episode sent them to sleep… and implore producers to bring back the lie detector test

After a week of serious Love Island drama involving love rats Michael Griffiths and Jordan Hames, the final dates episode fell a little flat.

On Thursday night, viewers moaned they were ‘bored’ watching the final couples treated to fancy dates, especially since the last two are still to come in the next installment of the ITV2 reality show.

Fans implored producers to bring back the famous lie detector test, amid reports the annual challenge has been scrapped due to recent uproar over the mental wellbeing of contestants.

Sending viewers to sleep: After a week of serious Love Island drama, the final dates episode fell a little flat on Thursday night

Twitter was awash with memes about how dry the romantic dates were as Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea, Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard, and India Reynolds and Ovie Soko spent some quality time together outside of the villa.

Belle Hassan and Anton Danyluk and Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague’s special dates will air on Friday night’s episode of the show.

One viewer joked: ‘Me lying in bed tonight thinking about how s**t tonight’s episode was when there’s less than a week of he show to go #LoveIsland.

Another posted: ‘Last week of love island gets very slow and boring’.

A third chimed in, ‘I might be a narcissist to say this but this is the super boring bit of love island now, the dates, the love confessions, the reminiscing the good times chats. I’m just waiting here patiently hoping someone will fuck up and spice it up again with some drama #LoveIsland’.

Claims the lie detector test had been scrapped were initially made shortly after Steve Dymond took his own life 10 days after failing a polygraph test while filming for The Jeremy Kyle Show, which has now been axed.

Lie detector: The test traditionally took place just before the final dates, so it’s likely it definitely won’t be happening this year – and fans at home aren’t happy

He wrote: ‘The final dates make me criiinge…where’s the lie detector challenge??! #loveIsland

‘If anyone watched Love Island for the first time on tonight’s episode they would never watch it again So boring tonight….. #LoveIsland’.
