Love Island viewers have suggested that the show will be inundated with Ofcom complaints after being left uncomfortable by the famous heartrate challenge.

Tuesday night’s episode saw the Islanders dress up in raunchy costumes and perform sexy dances in a bid to raise the heartrates of their fellow stars.

But it quickly prompted a fierce backlash on social media as viewers compared it to ‘soft porn’ as Islanders received lap dances and sucked each others’ fingers in the racy scenes.

Other viewers also admitted their unease over the age-gap between Islanders as Gemma Owen stepped out in a sexy corset and held a riding crop as she performed racy dances for her co-stars.

Fans have previously called for a higher minimum age on the show after Gemma, 19, coupled up with Davide Sanclimenti, who is eight years her senior at 27.

While another commented: ‘They have a 19 year old dancing and licking on 28 year old men. OFCOM!!!’

A Love Island spokesperson declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.

It comes after Love Island was hit with more than 250 Ofcom complaints after viewers were left shocked by portrayal of age gap romances.

On her second day in the villa, the daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen ended up paired with Italian entrepreneur Davide.

The pair also shared a kiss in one of the challenges which prompted 167 people complaints to TV watchdog Ofcom.

Days later, Gemma’s ex Jacques O’Neill, 23, entered the villa. After hearing their relationship timeline, viewers determined that Gemma would have been 16 when they first dated while Jacques will have been at least 20.

Shocked by the age gap between them being promoted on screen, a further 97 viewers complained to the watchdog.

Age gaps: Fans had previously called on the ITV2 show to implement a higher minimum age after being shocked that contestant Gemma was only 19

Ofcom have confirmed they will not investigate the complaints. A Love Island spokesperson refused to comment when approached by MailOnline.

When Davide wanted to couple up with her talk turned to their age gap, with Davide asking: ‘How are you feeling about the fact I’m much older than you? I mean you are not bothered by that?’

Gemma responded: ‘It’s not an issue for me at all. I feel like if it was, I wouldn’t have wanted to get to know you in the first place. And as I’ve said, I’ve been speaking to guys and seeing guys who are much older than me.

‘It’s not something that I’m not used to or you’re the only one or anything like that. It’s very normal for me, so for me it’s not an issue but I feel like for you, is it an issue?’

Gemma is currently coupled up with Luca Bish, 23.

Viewers previously offered their opinions on what they thought the show’s minimum age should be as they claimed Gemma was ‘too young’ to appear on the dating programme.

Viewers wrote: ‘She’s too young for Love Island. The age limit should be 21. A teenager trying to get a 27 year old man to show an interest in them doesn’t sit well with me at all!’

‘Sorry age limit for love island should be 21.’; ‘Should be an age limit on entering #LoveIsland 21+.’; ‘Up the age limit on this show. For people who have genuinely had love but it didnt work out & for people who are genuinely looking for it.

’25 is an age most people are starting to get in serious relationships. These people are too young & just want the plt deals.’; ‘I feel like there should be an age limit of AT LEAST 21 on this show because 19 is just mad.’

‘Gemma is too young, there should be a lower age limit on this show…22/23 maybe.’; The age limit should be starting at 21 minimum.’
