Louise Redknapp admits she wants to be an X Factor judge… but rules out competing on the celebrity version as it ‘wouldn’t be good for her career’

She recently dropped her latest single Lead Me On.

However Louise Redknapp admitted that she can already see her career heading in a different direction, as she confessed she would love to be an X Factor judge.

Although the X Factor is set to return as a new celebrity version, the singer, 44, ruled out competing on the show because it ‘wouldn’t be good for her career’.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: ‘I love the ­X Factor, I think it’s brilliant, I would definitely be up for being a judge on it. For sure. If Simon can make it happen that would be great.’ 

However when quizzed on if she can see herself competing, she added: ‘I don’t think that would be the right thing for me at this point in my career, but judging is a different idea entirely. That could work well.’

If Louise was asked to judge the competition, she would be joining Louis Walsh on the panel who recently exclusively confirmed to MailOnline that he was back.

The news came after it was reported that Louis was in talks to return alongside American songstress Nicole Scherzinger, 40, after Simon confirmed plans to create both celebrity and All Stars versions of the ITV show. 

Louise has been starring as the leading lady role in West End show 9 To 5: The Musical in recent months since focusing on her career and musical comeback. 

Competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 reignited the former Eternal band member’s desire to return to work.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: ‘I love the ­X Factor, I think it’s brilliant, I would definitely be up for being a judge on it. For sure. If Simon can make it happen that would be great’

Yet Louise balances her spot in the limelight with raising her sons Charles, 14, and Beau, 10, alongside her ex-husband Jamie.

The famous exes decided to part ways for good and get a divorce in 2017 after they were married for 19 years.

Louise also told the publication that when she begins to date again she will be open about it, however she is yet to meet anyone new.
