LODs Vicky McClure and Martin Compston seen ahead of show's return

Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure and Martin Compston look worlds away from AC-12 as they step out separately in Nottingham and Las Vegas ahead of show’s highly anticipated return

Line Of Duty fans are counting down the hours until the debut of the highly anticipated show’s sixth series on Sunday night.

And co-stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston were spotted stepping out in casual style in Nottingham and Las Vegas, respectively, ahead of their show’s return.

Vicky, 37, looked worlds away from their AC-12 trio earlier this week, when she was seen departing a recording studio in Nottingham.

The screen star looked casually cool in a charcoal rollneck sweater, which she teamed with light grey jogging bottoms and a pair of Adidas running shoes.

Keeping her possessions secured in a cross-body bag, the Nottingham native sported a pair of black-rimmed spectacles, while she kept her makeup minimal.

Carrying her phone, car keys and a metallic flask, the actress was spotted hours before her 36-year-old co-star Martin was seen strolling in Las Vegas.

The actor, who currently lives in the Nevada gambling haven, was seen sporting a Soccer Aid tracksuit top and grey shorts.

It’s back! The show will return on Sunday, with S.I. Ted Hastings, DI Kate Fleming and DS Steve Arnott taking the helm of the force’s highest profile murder investigation

Rounding out his casual look with a pair of black Adidas hi-tops, the Scot appeared to be in a pensive mood as he stepped out for his solo stroll.

Their outings come after Vicky jokingly revealed her co-star Martin struggled to fit into his suits when they returned to film in Belfast several months after the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent lockdowns, forced a break in filming.

In a Q&A ahead of Sunday’s launch, Vicky said Martin gorged on In- N-Out burgers, while he stayed at his home in Vegas for lockdown and when he returned, found DS Steve Arnott’s signature tailored blue suit ‘a bit tight’.

Vicky said: ‘His costumes didn’t fit him. I think he was being slightly dramatic to be fair. I mean, obviously, he went back to Vegas for a bit. I asked him about In-N-Out burgers the other day and he told me not to talk about it.

There she is: Vicky looked in good spirits as she visited the recording studio

‘But he had a few of those and chilled out as we all did. He had to self isolate for two weeks as he was coming over from Vegas.’

Vicky explained how in the run-up to his return to filming, producers bought him a bike for his flat to keep him entertained.

She added: ‘Apparently he just ate soup for two weeks. But, yeah, he said that he had tried on his suits and they were a bit tighter than usual.’

When asked if the crew teased him about it, producer Simon Heath jokingly said: ‘Of course not! We’d never do that, ever.’

Strolling: On Sunday, Vicky was seen out and about in London when her fiancé Jonny Owen

Their co-star Adrian Dunbar, who plays SuperIntendent Ted Hastings in the series, spoke about Vicky’s pranking antics on set, which led to him becoming a Tik Tok sensation.

Back in October, the actress, who plays DI Kate Fleming in the BBC cop drama, fooled Adrian, 62, into dancing to My Bestie and Your Bestie by Yungen while recording him on camera.

He said: ‘I’ve got mixed feelings about this kind of stuff she gets up to. She just ambushed us really.

‘She asks, you know, again like: “I’m doing this thing for charity” so you do it because you trust her, on that occasion she said: “Just dance along”, and I thought “what is this about?”. Tik Tok. Within three or four days a million people had watched it.

Tartan: Sporting Adidas running shoes, she stepped out in a tartan-print protective face mask

Thumbs up! Vicky gave the thumbs up to a photographer in the hours before the show’s return

Dapper: Director Jonny looked smart in a black pea coat, which he teamed with indigo jeans

He added: ‘You have to be careful with Vicky because she will ambush you.’

And Vicky revealed fans of the show will get to see plenty more videos of herself pranking Martin.

The actress has played a number of jokes on her co-star over the years, including drawing a picture of a penis in his police notebook, which the actor didn’t see until filming began.

She said: ‘I’ve handed a few of those over to the BBC for your delights. I love a blooper real and I love that we were sharing some of that stuff over lockdown.

‘I think it’s great that we’re open with the audience and go behind the curtains so to speak. We have a laugh.’

Series six will follow the dynamic AC-12 trio investigating the force’s highest profile murder to date.

Guest lead Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) is assigned as the senior investigating officer on the unsolved murder case, but her suspicious conduct attracts the attention of the anti-corruption team.

Shalom Brune-Franklin, 26 — who has appeared in BBC’s Our Girl alongside Michelle Keegan — is the new addition to the AC-12 team as Detective Constable Chloe Bishop.

Some viewers branded the finale of the fifth series, which aired in May 2019 and drew more than nine million viewers, as an ‘anti-climax’, after it was revealed that mysterious criminal mastermind H was in fact code for four people.

So fans will be hoping the show finally reveals the fourth person’s identity — and the teaser suggests it might not be a man they are looking for.

This series of the Jed Mercurio drama features seven episodes, the longest to date.

Line of Duty will return on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.

LINE OF DUTY: WHO IS THE FOURTH ‘H’?

Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio excited fans when he shared the first clue about the plot of season six to Twitter.

Uploading a snap of a packet of the Australian chocolate biscuits TimTams with the caption ‘#LineofDuty Series 6 Plot Clue No. 1’, fans began to ferociously speculate as to what it might mean.

But one plot point hanging over the next season of the show is about the identity of the ominous ‘H’.

While the mystery was somewhat answered in the season five finale, it was also revealed that there are FOUR people pertaining to be ‘H’, with the final one still unknown.

So who could it be?

Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin)

Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin)

She was one of season five’s stand-out characters, swooping in towards the end of the series to interrogate Ted Hastings – highly suspected to be ‘H’ at the time.

And while she simply seemed to be excellent at her job – and hellbent on uncovering the corruption within the department – could it be that Patricia Carmichael was SO keen to pin the blame on Ted to take the focus away from herself.

Could SHE be the fourth ‘H’?

Her position of power and respect, along with her unnaturally steely and cut-throat demeanor, could well point to this.

Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar)

Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar)

Ted Hastings was pinpointed by viewers of the show, as well as the characters on the show, to be a candidate for ‘H’.

But it seemed he was exonerated by the end of season five, allowed to walk free.

But could be potentially be triple-crossing us all? Could he in fact STILL be the potential fourth ‘H’.

The biggest issue with this theory is that Gill Biggeloe – one of the three revealed to be ‘H’ – was so against him. Surely she wouldn’t be working to deter him if they were in league?

UNLESS, she doesn’t KNOW he is the fourth ‘H’?

DCC Andrea Wise (Elizabeth Rider)

Detective Chief Constable Andrea Wise was new to the show in season five and is another high-powered contender for ‘H’.

She has been constantly interfering when it has come to supporting AC-12’s investigations, removing them from the investigation into Operation Pear Tree. She also instigated the Ted Hastings investigation.

She is also keen to cover up police corruption, despite announcing at the end of season five: ‘This constabulary will work tirelessly to root out rotten apples in its ranks.’

PCC Rohan Sindwhani (Ace Bhatti)

PCC Rohan Sindwhani (Ace Bhatti)

Police and Crime Commissioner Rohan Sindwhani demanded to be ‘in on’ a meeting between Andrea Wise and Ted Hastings. This might be a small clue but any clue could be valid at this point.

Any shady behavior suggests ‘H’ is at play, and so Rohan could indeed be culpable.
