Lil Xan Honors Mac Miller Via Morbid Face Tattoo

There is no right or wrong way to mourn.

We just want to come right out and say that up front.

Late last week, fans gave Ariana Grande a hard time after she didn’t immediately respond in public to the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and, quite frankly, it was abhorrent.

So this brings up to Lil Xan.

The artist was very close to Miller and has chosen a unique way to pay tribute to his late friend.

Days after the “My Favorite Part” rapper died at 26 from a suspenced overdose, Lil Xan has honored Miller in the most permanent of ways: by getting a tattoo on his face.

This may sound outlandish, but have you ever seen Lil Xan’s face?!?

The latest piece of ink simply joins a number of other very long-term etchings on his mug, as you can see below.

“MOMENTO MORI. miss you Mac,y’all can start hating me now,” wrote Xan as a caption to this image.

“Memento Mori” translates to “Remember that you will die.”

This could be considered rather morbid on one hand, but Xan may also be telling folks to basically seize the day and/or live life to the fullest because, sadly, we will all pass away someday.

For Miller, this day simply arrived way too soon; at way too young of an age.

He had openly battled substance abuse issues for many years, even saying in an interview back in the day that he feared overdosing someday.

Earlier this year, Grande ended her two-year long relationship with Miller largely because his addiction has turned the romance “toxic,” to use the female singer’s own words.

She has since shared a photo of Miller on her Instagram page to memorialize the dead star.

Lil Xan, meanwhile, has been met with his fair share of criticism due to his unusual tribute.

But he doesn’t care one bit.

“I do this for me,” he wrote as a caption to another Instagram snapshot, showing off an even-newer tattoo of black liquid dripping under his right eye and adding:

“I could care less if this makes me ugly because that’s what I was going for, Ugly is the new beautiful, well not really but there’s some truth to that, I love you guys.”

Gotta admire someone who simply remains true to himself at all times, right?

Following Miller’s passing, Lil Xan – whose real name is Diego Leanos – shared on the Adam22 podcast that his friend’s unexpected passing made him want to quit music forever.

It really did affect him that much.

“The Mac sh-t is crazy. I’ve been crying in my apartment, Mac didn’t die, Mac didn’t overdose,” he said on Saturday.

“When your hero dies, f-ck that sh-t, I don’t want to make music no more.”

It pales now in comparison to the loss of a mentor and friend, but Lil Xan was also in the news last month after splitting from Noah Cyrus.

“I feel like I’m probably being cheated on,” Lil Xan wrote in a since-deleted post, while Noah said the same thing about herself and Xan.

Cheating allegations were leveled by both stars online.

“I’ve just been informed that basically it’s all fake and I’m being used,” he added on Instagram.

“So f-ck it. I guess I was just being used. I thought I was in love but whatever. I’ll take that L. Heartbreak soldier; thanks Noah. Hope the song does well…

“People love to just hurt me. It just hurts so f-ckin bad.”
