Uh-oh: Kristen Stewart is pursued by deep sea predators in a heart-pounding new trailer for her upcoming submarine thriller Underwater

While deep-sea drilling, the crew somehow unleash an unidentified menace that sets upon them as they struggle to survive their ordeal.

Kristen is seen in the bathroom of the submarine showing off her midriff in a sports bra and sweats while brushing her teeth – as the vehicle begins to shudder.

Perturbed, she throws her jacket on and wanders out into the hall, where she notices an ominous drip-drip of water from the ceiling.

Suddenly, disaster ensues as water bursts through the walls, causing the crew to desperately scramble around the submarine to a safe area.

‘On a scale from one to 10, how bad’s my rig?’ Vincent demands of Kristen, who answers with horror: ‘Ten.’

‘We drilled to the bottom of the ocean and we don’t know what came out,’ says Jessica as the crew gather round for a confab.

‘We gotta get to the station,’ says Vincent, and when Jessica asks: ‘How do we even get there?’ he responds: ‘We walk.’

T.J. is thoroughly unconvinced, asking: ‘We’re just gonna walk with in insufficient oxygen across the bottom of the ocean?’

Despite his misgivings about the ‘worst idea ever,’ the crew get suited up and venture out of their submarine to find the station.

Before they get there, though, mysterious animal noises begin to ring out around them, and the crew switch off their headlamps for safety.

This safety precaution is not enough – whatever is pursuing them manages to grab hold of crew members and begin dragging them off.

What follows is a breakneck clip reel showing the various dangers the crew face as they attempt to escape their plight.

Star turn: T.J. has serious misgivings about Vincent’s plan to ‘walk’ to ‘the station’ from the submarine, but the plan proceeds anyway

Filling in the gaps: Jessica, pictured here in a happier moment, reminds her crew mates: ‘We drilled to the bottom of the ocean and we don’t know what came out’

Peril: Kristen can also be spotted wandering through a scarlet-lit cave dripping with slimy tendrils, one of which reaches out to grab her helmet

While searching a narrow enclosed area with a flashlight, Kristen comes upon a corpse that looks as if it has been left in place for some time.

She can also be spotted wandering through a scarlet-lit cave dripping with slimy tendrils, one of which reaches out to grab her helmet.

Members of crew also have to deal with a massive explosion, and Kristen at one point is glimpsed with spiderweb cracks across her helmet’s glass.

Helmed by The Signal director William Eubank, Underwater is written by Brian Duffield and Adam Cozad and will bow on January 10 next year.
